I am sorry guys, I just had figured out how to post pictures and was running out of time.

Like I say it is a custom pistol.  I am sure most of you are familiar with the Auto Mag story as books have been written about them.  If not, read the Wikipedia article.

The frame is a North Hollywood made in the early 70's and has been polished and plated.  The barrel on the pistol is newly manufactured by Maynard Arms of Portland, Oregon and is chambered for the 44 AMP cartridge (Auto Mag Pistol).  It is 81/2" long which was never made at the Auto Mag factories with the vent rib.  The Dirty Harry gun in the Sudden Impact movie were manufactured just for the movie.  Since I had the polished plated frame, I ordered the barrel with a mirror finish.

The extra barrel in the case is custom also.  It is an 81/2" plain barrel made by Bob Barbasiewicz who was Production Manager and Engineer at Auto Mag Corp and TDE.  It is chambered for the 357 AMP cartridge and made in the middle 70's

The 44 AMP cartridge was initially made by cutting down 308 brass and neck reaning it to give the approximate capacity of the 44 Rem Mag but without the rim so as to be suitable for a semiauto pistol.  44 AMP bras is now sold by Starline.

The 357 Amp was simply the 44 next down to accept the 357 bullets.

The Auto Mag Pistols can utilize intercahangable barrels.  You simply pull the bolt back and lock it. Turn the lever in front of the trigger guard down 90 degrees, and pull the barrel off.  Slip the new barrel in place, and move the bolt into battery.

I have not shot this pistol as I have just got it put together.  I do have several others and shoot bothe 44 and 357 AMP's

BEEMER!, thanks for sharing the story on your pistols very cool.  8)

I had an opertunity many years ago (late 70's) to purchase a set of consecutive serial numbered 44 AutoMag Pistols in a display box...$1200 for both!  Well I didn't want to spend that much money back then, so I passed on that deal.  :-[

I was always mad at how "Dirty Harry" threw the AutoMag on a trash heap when it ran out of ammo.   :)

Nice gun, contrats.

REDLINE

Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

I follow the used market on AMP's real close.  The last set of consecutive serial numbered pistols I saw were a near new set of Pasadena's with several options and the original invoice(which was $217.00 each).  They brought $6000.00.
