Thanks for the birthday wishes.  I retired at age 50 with 30 1/2 years service with the FD, I try to stay active doing may DIY projects which saves some money...However the biggest hit was health insurance when up 3X after Obummer screwed everything up.

Happy Bday!  Turned 63 in January, and still feeling 18 but the +45 is way too many additional miles to comment about...

The health insurance thing deserves another thread, but I am feeling your pain... ::)

Oops...a little late but Happy Birthday, Wade. And many more..........

Quick 2

I will be 55 this year but I ain't kicking as high as I used to. I can remember back when i thought that anyone over 50 was ancient. Funny thing is the only way I would go back to 18 if it was possible is if I could take what I know now with me.  Over a month late but Happy Birthday.

I am 42, but thanks to a wreck almost 5 years ago i feel a lot older. Cant do stuff that was simple before the wreck. I am not looking forward to getting older at all.

Thanks for the wishes...

Got out today and all us old guys that are still alive that retired from my FD had our annual crawfish boil, it was a good time reminiscing and catching up on who, what, when and where with these extended Fire Dept family.

Happy B-day ya old hose huggger!...from the other side of the house...."why did God make Police Officers?? So firemen would have heroes toooooo!!!" :P

Thanks will965, the other day I was at a restaurant and one of the engine companies also stop by to take in lunch.  I knew two of them and they invited me to sit with them, they introduced me to the newest guy on the rig.  Those guys all hired in after I retired, we talked about the various things going on in the department these days.  They asked about some of the big fires they heard of from in the past.  Anyway we had a great time sharing stories over lunch, which they almost didn't get, the tones dropped right after they ordered, they went on their way to the alarm call but were canceled enroute.
Good to see the department in good capable hands!  ;D
