BEEMER!

I mounted a scope on this AMP today.

It is a 10 1/2" barrel chambered for the 30 LMP (Lomont Magnum Pistol).  That is a 44 AMP necked down to 30 caliber.

Awesome pistol, that cartridge should be shoving 30 caliber bullets along at a good clip!  Thanks for sharing the pic and info Bob!

I had a 12" 30 LMP for awhile.  It had trouble cycling with light 110gr bullets, but worked fine with anything heavier.

I had a long discussion with Kent Lomont back around 1999 about the Auto Mag at the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot.  The 30 LMP was his favorite Auto Mag caliber.

What's the ballistics on the 30 LMK ? I was curious as to how it compares to the 7.5 FK.

Caveat emptor.

This is an Auto Mag. Auto Mags had the reputation of being a complete surprise when they functioned properly. Whoever wants to sell you one, make damn sure they'll take it back if it is unreliable.

I have, and have had, literally dozens of Auto Mags through the years and the old ones had many problems as you point out.  Many of these were magazine problems.  I have never had one that with a little touch up that I could not get to be reliable.  I agree that you should not have to work on a new gun but that was the way it was.

The owner of the new company that is making them now did not know about any of this and it literally took him 5 years and 50+ design improvements to make a pistol he was proud to sell, but he has done it.

He finally got into production 15 months ago and has run into all kinds of supply problems like many businesses have and is struggling to make guns.  They are selling well, even at a price point that I did not think would work.  I wish him well.

The answer is I am not sure.

The cartridge is new to me and there are literally less that 15 of these barrels in existence and most are not being shot.

I have an aquaitance in W Virginia that shoots one and once I get a little more into it and know what questions to ask, I plan on calling him and get going.  The weather is not fit here anyway to be working with an entirely new cartridge and gun.

There already is a 41 Auto Mag Pistol caliber which tops the 10mm Mag.

I doubt that the any Auto Mags will ever be built with a different sized case head than the 45 ACP/308/30.06 that is used now.

TonyRumore

At one time, I had two 41 Auto Mag barrels.  One was an El Monte Jurras logo'd 6.5" vent rib 41 JMP.
The other was an 8" Covina non-vent barrel marked 41 AMP instead of JMP.  The head space was WAY different between the two barrels....so much so, that I had to use two different sets of dies to load for them even though I have been told that both versions should be the same.
