It looks like the new Auto Mags are moving along nicely.  Here is a link to a progress report on their website:

The new barrel and rib have a different profile from the original AMP's.  The new barrels and ribs are machined from one piece and threaded into the barrel extension.  In the old process the ribs were welded to the barrel and the barrels were welded into the barrel extensions.

Personally, I liked the old profile better but the new system should yield a much better product.

I have one coming and it should have been here weeks ago so I sent an email asking if it was still coming.

The owner, Patrick Henry, called me up Wednesday night and said he would see that it got out next week.  I asked him how SHOT went and he said they were stacked up 4 and 5 deep at the booth.  The different finishes were just done up for the show.  He said when he saw the gold (TiN) plated one he kinda got mad but it was a big hit at the show.  The one with the rear sight rail to me is ugly as hell but lots of hunter types liked it.

He said there are a lot more Auto Mag fans out there than he realized. 

I wonder how many fans have the $3500 to spend.

The New Auto Mag Company has had a lot of startup problems but has finally worked through them they feel.

They completed a 5000 round reliability and wear test last month on a production gun.

They shipped the first firearms out of their shop in South Carolina last Wednesday and I managed to get the first two out the door.  They are even better than I expected.  I have not had a chance to fire them yet.
