It's sad to say, but I recently acquired the 1006 from my brother just last week.  He passed away at 50 from pancreatic and liver cancer.   But when I finally was able to go over and pick up some stuff that was his I remembered he had the 10mm S&W.  So that came home with me along with some other stuff.

But here is the real question I only found 1 magazine.  Where or how can I find a few more?  I would love to have more if possible.

I will tell you the gun is pristine in every way.  It will be cherished for my life I can tell you that.

Also can you guys tell me about this gun the good the bad (if any) and your over all thoughts on this gun.

I appreciate any and all input.  I love the 10mm like we all do but didn't want to get this , this way.

Screwball

You can find magazines on auction sights and classified sections on different forums, but be ready to pay upwards of $100 for one. They aren't made anymore, so supply/demand really took over.

I got into one in either 2010 or 2011, and even then, I was lucky finding magazines in the $40-$50 range. I think I have 10 or 12, but won't sell them since it is a gun I love to shoot.

445 supermag sorry to hear of your brother's passing. :(  Cancer is one disease we can do without in this world...
The magazines for the S&W's have been going at premium prices for the last few years now.  Any at < $50 are considered a steal, but many are being sold > $50 and upwards of $100 +.  Gunbroker has them often but prices and shipping add up.

All the S&W 3rd gen guns themselves are commanding extreme prices these days too.  All I can do is say keep looking for a deal.

Best regards and good luck! :D

A 100 bucks for 1 magazing.  Wow!  If I can't find the other one at his house then I will have to buck up and pick up 1 or maybe 2 more.  Boy am I going to look again.  Wow.

What are your guys thoughts on the 1006 gun itself.  Looks and feels like a bank vault.  Very solid build and looks like it can take some good reloads too.

Thanks

Brian

Brian I have been shooting my 1006 since very early 1990 when new, it is a robust machine and still runs very well and accurate.  I changed to a Wolff 22lb spring for mine early on, I also have two Bar-Sto Match Grade conversion barrels chambered in 40S&W and 9x25Dillon that were hand fitted by me.  The 9x25 did need the chamber final reamed after it was fitted, this was done by Van of The Gun Works in Ohio.  Bar-Sto stopped making barrels for the these 3rd gens long ago.

I have several of the 10XX models in very good condition in my collection.  S&W has discontinued all parts which is a damn shame for such fine firearms.  That and the rising prices is why I have shifted to shooting more with the Glock 20 and 29 these days.

Someday we may see someone produce some parts for these beautiful guns... ???

My condolences to you for the loss of your brother. Sad to lose a brother at such a young age, and fellow shooter.

I have a 1006. I LOVE the beast. Heavy but like a plinker even with hot ammo. You somehow started with the biggest weakness. The guns last forever, magazines drying up! I have two. I know, I would love 4 or 6 more!

I am sorry to hear of your brother's passing. May God rest his soul. Regarding the 1006, the pistol is the pinnacle of the 10mm Auto SA/DA breed. I would sell just about any handgun I have to obtain one. They are one of the "bad boys" of the cartridge. Durable, exceptionally long-lived, handsome... What's not to like? In my opinion? Don't be a fool, hang onto it for dear life!

I am envious!    :-\

Not to make anyone jealous, but 17 mags in the pic.

I participate in the thread in the S&W forum about the scarcity of 10XX magazines.
In northeast Ohio here in the gun show circuit, the big clip/magazine guy found a stash of them in his father's hoard. I buy only 1 at each show I see him so others will have a chance to buy too. He doesn't have a store or website,he only sells at shows. I don't even know his phone number. Whenever he sees me,he pulls one out to sell. He sells them for $40 even though he knows he can get more for them. I put an offer out on the S&W forum to sell a couple to forum members at $45 each plus shipping. I'll put the same offer out here. If someone wants two,PM me your address,I'll ship them out and you send me a check after you receive them. I'll accommodate 3 requests to sell off a total of 6. No,the OEM packaged ones are not for sale

Please scroll down and see the great offer. I got one to save 5 for others. The magazines are like new.

Brian, please accept my condolences. I too lost my brother way to young, he was about 40 and had an heart attack in the early 1990's.

I had a 1006 and a 1076 and they were great guns and built like a tank. I sold them both when S&W discontinued all the parts and support for them. They didn't hold any sentimental value
and I'm not a collector. I have however replaced them with current model 10MM  so all is good. Best of luck!
