I have a lot of 10mm cases and 155gr fmj and 600 155xtp bullets to load up.I'm using cci 300 primers and blue dot powder.I have worked up to 12 grains of powder. The Alliant data says it should push this bullet to 1291fps but my Hornday manual says I can work up to 12.9 for max load.I'm just wondering if any of you guys here have any input on using this load?Should I just stay at 12 grains or work up to a higher load?I'm using a Glock 20sf stock.I do have a 6 inch lone wolf barrel for it and a mech tech carbine but im not going to start working loads for them until I get my stock barrel loaded right.

You will need to test watching to see if you get any "smiles" in your factory barrel.  If you don't then you should be good in the other barrels.  I use a non captive Wolf recoil rod and 22 lb spring because I believe it helps at in battery lock up more.

I carefully worked up a 155 XTP to the Hornady max of 12.9 grains of Blue Dot and CCI 300s. Gen 3 G20 with stock RSA and barrel. It yielded right about 1400 fps average, and no indications of pressure concerns. Of course, please carefully do your own workups and look closely for indications of pressure symptoms. That load absolutely explodes water-filled milk jugs!

Am I the only one who likes mag primers with BD?

11.8gr BD CCI 350 155 MG 1.255 1,323 out of a LW 5.15" with room to grow.

XTP @ same oal should move 30-50 fps faster & show slightly less pressure signs.

Thanks for the input.I will slowly work up some more loads.I'm interested in seeing how the 155gr holds up to these velocity's.I will use  a couple layers of denim and milk jugs to test them.I really want to load up some 180gr but I got 700 never fired cases and almost 1k of 155gr fmj for FREE.I ordered the Hornday press and dies for 10mm and got 600 155gr xtp for free. Thanks again for your input.

Shadow you said you use a 22lb spring.Have you noticed a better standard deviation using it and have you had any problems with it cycling watered down factory 10mm ammo?

The_Shadow

I have used the 22 lb springs even with 40S&W and they cycle and feed just fine from my guns...
Standard Deviation is more of the way the way the powder burns when ignited.  Even though Blue Dot shows higher SD they still remain accurate.  But a lot can be attributed to instruments themselves, I don't have lab quality equipment to measure mine, just a CHRONY. Sorry!

The question was directed toward the Shadow, but thought I'd jump in. In my Gen 3 g20 with a 22# Wolff spring, low powder ammo cycled fine. More feel recoil though. It was never super reliable with hot/heavy ammo, on the other hand. The increased forward slide velocity caused misfeeds. It seemed that the slide arrive a bit too quickly befor the next round was lifted into place by the mag spring. Some solve that with plus power mag springs. But that was feeling like a rabbit hole that wasn't solving anything that wasn't really broken for me in the first place.

The stock gen 3 rsa cycles everything with softer recoil. I mean everything from 2XX lb/ft me to 800 lb/ft +. I ended up giving away my RSA. I didn't hear if he had any better luck though.

Thanks guys for the input.I was looking at getting a 20 lb spring but didn't know if it would affect cycling.I think the stock spring is 17 lbs.My glock has been pretty reliable and I don't want that to change.
