Decided to go with a Leupold Deltapoint Pro.  The smith is aching a base that will fit the existing dovetail so as to not cut into the frame...
Not good??

Couple of ways to do it. Henning removed his rear sight and used the slot. The frame is tapped for it is all.

Resurrecting this old thread with an update. Finally got to put the gun through its paces.  Optic performed perfectly with a variety of factory ammo as did the gun itself.  After several hundred rounds, not a single failure.  100% reliable.

Looking good! One of the best shooters for 10mm out there!

Hey Rev,

Gotta say, I dig what you've done here. Sweet piece!

Curious if that custom mount to slide is friction fit only?

Pablo

VERY nice. Does that optic cowitness with the front sight?

The mount is semi-friction fit but also secured with 2 set screws...

Unfortunately it does not co-witness.  The only way to do that would be to put an exaggeratedly tall front blade, or machine the slide to lower the optic...

Actually that is a good thing in my view. Cowitness especially on a hand gun is more of hindrance for quick accurate shooting.

They are about the cheapest 10mm pistols out there.

But I am kind of hooked on 1911 pattern guns. My short fat fingers find double stacks just a bit too wide to get a good grip on. Which is why I do not own a Desert Eagle, or a Jerico, or a Grizzly LAR.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

I know this is a common complaint about double stack guns, but you really should track down and try a Witness.  It feels a BUNCH smaller than my Para or Glock.  In fact, if feels smaller than a single stack 1911 to me, at least one with standard grip panels.  I imagine with slim panels the 1911 would feel smaller.  But then, you can get slim panels for the Witness too.
