You should be happy with the Witness Hunter. You'll have the power that the 6" barrel provides, the slightly "muzzle heavy" feel to bring the "business end" of the pistol back to the target. It is a practical approach to the 10mm Auto that you will swiftly come to appreciate.

Thanks Captain...
Can you comment on grip size?

Captain O

I don't have big hands, yet have no difficulty handling my Witness. You'll be pleasantly surprised with how well it handles. I like mine. (You'll have the advantage of the longer barrel, and I envy you)!

After all this a "range report" is order, okay?

Thank you Captain... particularly for that last comment.   ;)  Same to you my friend.

One thing that we haven't discussed is the Tanfo's reliability.
Will it feed a wide variety of ammo from weak to nuclear, without incident?

Only hickup iv had in my match was with federals sp...handloads, Armscor, Remington, Sigs all ran fine. my has the loosest chamber of the 3 10s iv had(Kimber STII, RIA fs non rail) and the best reliability.

20lb wolf long slide spring and hennings match goodie pack(guide rod, trigger spring, 15 or 14lb hammer spring, firing pin + stop, and sights)

Yup! It's been done and to extremes some handloaders won't take them to. The frame is actually more of a heavyweight than any of the other frames. Totally reliable from the lightest up to 230gr Hardcast.

Yep.  I stand by my review.  MIne eats anything.  I have never had a functional failure in the Elite Match.

Your pistol's name isn't "Mikey" is it? (Mikey eats everything)!   ;D

I just couldn't resist!

Rev:

When you take down the Witness, you'll see that it has the P-35-type ("kidney") "link" which handles the 10mm power with consummate aplomb. I don't think you'll have any difficulty with any loads you feed it. The key to "mastering" the Witness in 10mm Auto is the same as it is to get to Carnegie Hall... Practice, practice, practice!

A few more questions  ;D.  I notice it comes with a few extra recoil springs.  Does this mean I will have to swap out springs depending on the loads I use?  Does it need to be "broken in" like some of the finer 1911's to function flawlessly?  Will it gobble up everything I throw at her, or will she be finicky about ammo?

I LOVE my Elite Match 10MM. First thing I did (since I reload and plan to shoot only full house loads for practice) was a Wolff 22 lb recoil spring. This is by far the most awesome handgun I've ever owned or shot. The grip is like a large Browning Hi Power, very ergonomic. These are heavy guns but that tames the 10MM. Having 2XL+ size hands I find the fit and ergos superb. I've added a Lasermax laser and ambi safety, plus a fiber optic front sight.. really want differential night sights next, but it seems that's a custom job at this crossroads

BTW I have had only one malfunction in 800+ rounds and that was a new, tight, fully loaded mag that didn't want to feed from slide lock. Tested all of my 26 mags fully loaded. Further testing after one mag load could not repeat this.. and the gun will, in a pinch, feed 40 S&W flawlessly (don't make a habit of this!)

I bought a new Witness Hunter 10 mm a few months ago.  Haven't shot it a lot: maybe 150 rounds?  I think I may have had one malfunction, can't remember specifically.  Off the cruddy rests at my range (2x4 frames with a piece of carpet stapled over the top) my second five shots after taking delivery went into 2" at 25 yards (with four in about 1.25").  I am a complete spaz so I'd bet it could easily group in one inch from a Ransom Rest.

With Nosler 200 grain over 9.2 grains Blue Dot I see 1140 fps; over 8.2 grains Blue Dot 1045 fps, over 7.7 grains Longshot 1150 fps.  Same bullet over 5.6 grains Universal not chronoed yet but looks promising for accuracy and is a snooze to shoot.  All these function fine with the heaviest spring in the kit.

Trigger could be a little lighter, but breaks cleanly enough.  Overall, very happy with it.  Biggest complaint is that the locking case is huge but doesn't ship with any extra mags.  Why is the case so big?

Intercooler

Because it's a big pistol and comes with a n excellent case. Do you want to sell it?

;D  Haven't taken it to the range yet, but plan on doing so this weekend.

Check out Razor Dobbs on You Tube. Great hunting with the 10 mike mike.
