What does everyone think of this messy GOP race so far?

For me, there are WAY too many candidates but I guess that also equates to part of the American dream??  I also don't know who I REALLY want yet, but I will support whoever can beat and/or runs against that witch Hilary?

Thoughts?

I can't stand any of them.  I don't know how in good conscience I would vote for any of them.

Oddly enough, I respect Bernie as a candidate.  I don't agree with him in philosophy of government, but I feel he is an honest candidate.  He says what he thinks, and I agree with him by and large about what is broken.

I don't care for his socialist solutions though.

Only Trump is calling out the GOP on its passed budget. Not a peep from Cruz or Rubio, the Tea Party SILENT, what happened to them.

Great story by Rush, GOP sells America Down the River.

Trump is the only Republican fighting for the average American, he is the only alternative to Hillary worth considering.

Alternately, Trump scares stay at home democrats so badly he will ensure a huge democrat voter turnout.

Sorry, I feel doomed.

One think I like about Trump he isn't bought and paid for, he is not your usual politician and he would surely shake things up and possibly break up the good ol boy system.  It would be interesting to see if they try to hide stuff and backroom/palm greasing deals from Trump.  Remember the right wing and left wing are the same bird!   ::)

His business sense will demand things being done on time and within budget and accountability for everything... ???

I would imagine Trump would also investigate the Fort Knox Gold Depository and physically & personally audit it. :-\

Seriously? And your alternative would be?

You are on a gun forum; it would be good to choose from the group that has no intentions of taking them.

Probably belongs in the Politics section, but I have a nickles worth to add to the mix.

I spent some time in the plains of Colorado in the 1980's, and some they described their view of "politics" and who they vote for.  First thing is if the politician was an incumbent.  It was a bad thing and vote for the other guy.  Second was if the politician was a lawyer.  That was a bad thing and vote for the other guy.  I believe there is some wisdom in the methods, from folks that were hard working and self-sufficient.

Let me say something I firmly believe.  The two parties are dirty and corrupt.  They are behind the scene doing everything they can to make sure the power structure gets their guy in.  The Donald might have thrown a wrench in their machine, fueled by common folks extreme discontent.  I'm not for the Donald, but I am certainly discontent.  What Wolfie posted that Rush said is spot on.

My view on the current political race.  A Socialist and a money grubbing lawyer/politician fight it out on one side, both unacceptable to me.  One should be tried by a jury.

On the other side, bunches of people think they are the answer.  I don't want the insider.  That eliminates most, Bush, Kasich, Rubio, I'll throw the Jersey governor in there, Grahm, Santorum, also as if they were of any consequence to begin with.  I am not a fan of lawyers because I question where their loyalty lies.  Cruz has that against him, But I have alot of respect of the brass he has, and the party certainly wants NOTHING to do with him.  For right now, I'll give him a pass.  I'm for minimal government in just about everything, Libertarian by definition, so I feel comfortable with Paul, even though there is no chance.

Who's left...?  I've never seen Donald do ANYTHING that wasn't for Donald.  Sorry folks.  He is out for me.  Besides, he doesn't seem able to keep the same view for a month, and I'd expect him to be running to the left of Hillary if he got the nomination.  That's his original roots.  Not a fan of his demeanor either.

Now what's left?  Carly, I wish I heard more constitutional stuff come from her mouth, but she speaks a lot of truth.  I could vote for her.  Cruz is likely my number two choice.  At least he understands how the fight was designed to be fought.  I like Ben.  A god fearing, pro constitutional man that I think could make informed decisions.  I also believe he stands a chance of bringing the American people back together again, something that is greatly needed after the current administration.  He's my first choice.

There is no alternative. Hence my quandary.

I don't believe voting based on a single issue is in the best interest of the country.  And I don't believe in todays climate gun control legislation is going to gain much popularity.  the millennials are a pretty rational group, and they don't see the point in gun control, unless you mean using two hands.

I don't agree with Bernie Sanders about how to fix our countries financial mess, but he is the only candidate that seem to have correctly identified the problem.  I hear Donald isn't bought and paid for, but his stance on immigration, abortion and a host of other personal rights issues other than guns are abhorrent to me.

There just isn't a place today for a guy that is a gun toting, gay rights loving, pro-choice, small government, fiscal conservative.

Reading through these comments makes me think nobody understands.  To me the issue is not which one is infinitely better for the next 4-8 years. Rather even those I think are not very good are infinitely better than the alternative.  I believe the measurement is between one that might be measured as 85 and another that might be measured as 88 percent.  Yea I think Bush would be more like 75 and Cruz in my book would be 90 but I really don't care since the current offering is minus 10 in my opinion.  Fiorina or Christie work equally well for me...

With all due respect, I've been on the face of the earth long enough to have my own beliefs, and they are based on what I see, what I know, and on what I believe should be.

Under Wolfie's post there is a link to a transcript of a Rush broadcast.   That defines politics as they are today as I see it.  I've been on a year long kick to better understand law, and what I've found makes me ill.  There is a conspiracy against the people, and its been in the works for a long while.

You used the phrase "infinitely better" and I differ with that.  I'm looking and in hope of finding that.  For the most part its simply a slightly different shade of gray between the D's and R's.  Don't look at what they say.  Look at what is done, even when a party controls both chambers of congress, as well as the presidency.

I won't vote for certain individuals running on the Republican side, Lindsey Graham comes to mind.  When it comes down to it, that final decision happens at the voting booth.  Whether I get to proudly vote for a nominee, vote while holding my nose, or write the name of my dog on the write in line has yet to be finalized.

In general I agree with your assessment of people like Lindsey Graham and the majority of Republicans in congress have compromised the constitution compromising with the constant unconstitutional acts of liberals.  But to me most of those running would suffice if they actually pursued what they claim to be for.  Personally I think that even if we get a good person in office this time the teachings in our schools have brought our young men and women to a basic communistic view of government, and consequently our conservative ideals are going to prove to be short lived.
