Shooting .40 thru 10mm, what works besides glock?

I was more curious than anything else;   I have a Smith 1006, just curious about the design that allowed glock to fire

The real power of the Glock design is the ease with which parts can interchange. There are gobs of aftermarket barrels in lots of different calibers.  The Glock extractor design allows it to pivot deeply into the breech face to securely grab case rims, even rims that are smaller than the breech was intended for.

While the aftermarket support for the 1911 is similarly huge, many changes, notably barrel changes in this case, require a great deal of fitting.  Additionally, the only calibers supported by an internal extractor that has minimal movement are ones that are very nearly the same rim diameter as what the slide was meant for originally.  Hence the need for a new top end when going from 45 to 10/40, and another if you want to shoot 9mm.

About the only big drawback to the Glock system is it just doesn't fit some peoples hands well.  The 1911 and CZ pattern guns always seem to fit any hand well.
