Can someone give me the lowdown on .22 LR conversion kits?  Looking at either the sig or witness 10 mm for my first 10 mm.  Both of them have .22 LR conversion kits available---but its hard for me to believe that one conversion kit will work for all--I mean those pistols have several models, calibers, frame styles--but I only see one ".22 LR conversion kit" for example, for all the sig p 220.  Will the same kit that fits a .45 DA/SA also fit the 10 mm SAO?  Same thing for Witness--there's quite a few different calibers/styles (Elite, stock 1, stock 2, etc.).

Is it just that the slide/internal mechanics are all pretty much the same dimensions whether it's a .22, 10 mm, .40, and whether it's a sig SA/DA or SAO, etc?  Just hard to believe that the same pistol that shoots a 10 mm will also take a .22  rimfire...., mag and all.  Thanks!

That MIGHT help me make a decision--for instance if the Witness conversion kit works, but the sig won't, etc.

The frames of the both platforms are common across calibers.  that is why they don't distinguish which caliber it is for.

I have a shooting buddy that has a 22 LR upper for his witness full size 10mm.  It works good with some brands of 22lr, but not others.  In general, his feeling (and mine) is to buy a dedicated 22 lr platform, like the Ruger Mark X series.

You need the large frame for the Witness 10mm (I have one I will part with). The small frame kit will not fit the large frame magwell.

The witness 22 LR conversions are either small frame or large frame. I have no issues with mine. But Intercooler has been having fits with his.
I think all conversion kits are little less reliable than a dedicated platform per the post above.

Kits will work on one and not another. Some of them depend on a certain type of ammo to run perfect too.
