I will be hunting wild hogs and deer and want to stock up on ammo.I have researched(online)many different brands and bullet weights and I was thinking of using HPR   XTP 200 grains at 1150 fps.Does anyone have any experience with this brand?

It is a good brand. Not as affordable as it used to be though, oh well. Anyway I've got 150 of their 180 gr xtps through my Glock 20 and 29 with no malfunctions. It is a full power load. I believe its rated at 1280 and almost achieves it. A good load that runs without a hitch.

I just ordered a couple hundred rounds of 180 and 200 grain.Sounds like agreat hunting round with Hornady XTP bullet and pretty hot as well,180 gr - 1270 fps,  200 gr  1150 fps

Underwood 200 and 220 grain hardcast. 1250 fps 694 ft. lbs , 1200 fps 700 ft. lbs

It sounds as if they have the power to accomplish the task. Penetration is your friend.

Well it's almost Christmas, what did you decide on and what kind of gun are you using?

Only curious about the gun to find out if you have a ramped/fully supported bbl or are using a Delta style bbl.

How did the hunting go......did you get anything?    Tracy

Tracy,I went with HPR XTP 200 grain bullet but I will probably try Boenairgeez56 suggestion of the Underwood 220 hardcast.I am using RIA Tac Ultra 10mm. No luck yet.....

Might wanna check out Sig Sauer Elite 180 gr. JHP ammo. That's what I plan to use for deer hunting this fall out of my G20 with extended LWD barrel.

Here's some of my chrono results. 1343 fps and 720 ft/lbs from my 6.02" barrel is nothing to sneeze at.

Hello

I would chronograph that HPR ammo if you have access to one..  Their 180gr load was quite a bit under what they advertised.

I haven't tested their 200gr load, but maybe someone here has.

There is a lot of good full power ammo out there that are well known for top performance.

WHY DO THEY CALL IT COMMON SENSE WHEN IT IS SO UNCOMMON?

Federal Trophy Bond if you can find it.

I think that stuff will prove to be one of the best factory rounds out there..

I've been calling around looking for this ammo, including a call to Federal.. of course they didn't know this ammo was hard to find.. :))
Midway says they are expecting some later this month.  We'll see.

I have been looking for the Federal ammo also. Since I cant find any my first choice is definitely underwood 200gr XTP or 200gr hard cast. I also shoot Corbon 200gr penetrator bullets. I have some buffalo bore 220gr hard cast.

My Paw-in-law spoke to a guy at underwood ammo about what would be the best hunting round for hogs. The guy said the best bullets they had, which if you go to their website you can see it is still out of stock, was the bonded bullets which they got from speer. They can't get them from speer right now but he said that is the best bullet for pigs and deer.

I went to Ga Arms and got me some 180gr speer bonded bullets.

I haven't been able to find the new Federal trophy bonded round, however, Underwood has almost any bullet weight you want and it has bonded rounds as well.  They have great service and their ammo is top notch.
