Here is a word document to help explain most of the stuff associated with the S&W 10xx series 3rd gen guns.
Hope you find it useful...

Thanks for sharing.  This is very informative.  Much of this I knew, but alot I didn't.  Also, all the codes are not something you easily commit to memory, so having a reference is nice.

Thanks,
Shadow, wonderful info you collected there.

We know exactly where one cow with Mad-cow-disease is located among the millions and millions of cows in America, but we haven't got a clue as to where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located.

Maybe we should put the Department of Agriculture in charge of immigration.

Thanks Shadow...nice to see all that info in one convenient spot.  I just scored a nice 1006 over on the S&W forum to join my 1076...I've got a way to go to catch you though buddy!

Interesting. I know it is deemed as the tank and strongest 10mm out there, but what areas does it win in versus others?

I wonder sometimes what my Match count is at. Haven't broke a single part on it yet other than the rear sight elevation screw coming out.

Just keep in mind this was 10,000 rounds of Winchester 175 gr Silver Tips (hot by anyones standards during this time period) and tested in 6 1/2 hours.

What it won was my admiration and confidence that knowing the pistol I purchased prior to this article, was going to be all I hoped it would be...You know what?  It has surpassed my expectations!  :o

Intercooler, I believe their strength lies in the quality of Stainless Steel being used, Robust Design machining of parts at a time when S&W was on top of their production program.  Don't take this wrong because it was not meant to be a bash on any other makes of 10mm pistols.

Great info for the 10 series.  I hope to find a 1006 sometime soon.  Impressive!!

Just the metal? You should do a picture write-up of a Match versus 1006 side by side with your thoughts on the individual pieces. If I owned both I would and also take weights, etc...
