Interesting, thanks for the update Rojo.

From the article: "Crosby is the sixth person killed by grizzlies since 2010 in and around Yellowstone"

I didn't realize grizzly / human deaths were this common in the park.

we need a volunteer, would one of you Glock 20 men step forward. ;)

My Glock 20Longslide with 6.2" barrel and the Hottest 200gr HARD bullets? If I could get 10-15 rounds near a vital area, it should do the trick. But that gun still has the very occasional failure to feed......need guys with rifles backing me up.  :P :o ;D

I mean its not like we look for trouble but a bear that size is meat to the 10mm.

As in most of these silly bear threads very few of the posters have ANY actual experience with large, aggressive bears.

I'd bet that one could dump a mag of 10's into a bear and unless you made a solid CNS hit the bear would still have you. Hitting the brain on a moving bear is going to be rather difficult.

Bears seldom give warning, generally are on  you in an instant. So unless you have you weapon out, at the ready...you are toast from the get go.

They are insanely strong and resilient.  Bears have taken hits from high powered rifles and have survived for years afterwards.

Here's a Montana grizzly in the wild.

That's exactly it. No one knows. Anyone with experience is bear scat. Hence my mention of rifle back up. :-X :D

I think probably the best thing of all to have is a short-barreled 12 gauge shotgun with slugs.

He was a Baltimore cop? That must have been scary.

Good thing it was a grizzly. If it were a black bear, it would have made national headlines....

I wonder what exactly his .41mag was ... his old duty weapon (S&W DA/SA revolver), or maybe a Ruger Blackhawk SA revolver?

Dan Wesson revolver. We have a mutual friend, which is how I know.

Thanks.  Wasn't his old duty weapon, then.
