Looking at..... a GLOCK!?

Ive found myself in a peculiar situation....
I went into my favorite local gunshop, and the gentleman behind the counter ( who knows my love of 10mm) says he has something to show me. He goes into the back, and comes out with a glock case.

He says check it out, and hands it to me. Turns out its a Glock 20sf. I get a grip on it, and surprisingly, its actually not uncomfortable! He says try the trigger. So I do. And it was the sweetest glock trigger id ever tried. Was sort of like a smooth da pull but lighter... says it has a ghost trigger in it?

Previous owner added an extended slide stop(ugh), adjustable glock sights, and the ghost trigger. Got to looking it over, and it doesn't look to have been shot much, just enough for a bit of brass to mark the breech face, and leave a little soot. Still had some of the copper colored grease on a few spots. Second mag in the box is unused, one in the gun had a soot level like that of the gun. Unfortunately, both mags are 10rd'ers... in the case all the stuff is there, warranty card and all. Fired case envelope says it was shipped early 2011...

They want 479$ for it. I kinda want it too.... my Ls Hunter COULD stand a buddy, and the glock would be a little lighter for carry (when I feel like carrying something smaller/lighter anyway)

So, am I mad for considering a GLOCK, regardless of my love for good old fashioned steel?

Nothing wrong with Glocks. Have the Para and a G29 love em both.

Glocks are great guns  :P , I have 5. For accuracy, price and reliability most likely the very best handgun available. Don't get me wrong I have several 1911s 5 10mms and a bunch of others :)

They may be uglier than ahnolds ex but I love my glocks, my 20 and 23 are here to stay.
They ended my search of several years for the perfect pistols for me.
Only thing I hate about glocks are the oem sights, but that's easy to fix

Doesn't sound too bad. I would honestly just get a new one and add a few mods on there as I wish. 15 round mags are a must if we don't live in cali or some terrible place like it. Can get yourself a ghost connector for about 16 dollars I think.

I have said this many times...The 10mm is very addictive and no one can have just one! :P
The other statement is what will be your next? 8)

I have both a ghost and a lone wolf, I cannot tell a difference.. Have swapped them between both guns also and the one with the most polishing always has best trigger.

Never was a Glock FanBoy.  Certainly didn't have anything against them as I'd had a few over the years but for whatever the reason, something didn't suit me and I'd get rid of them..

That changed when my interest in 10mm took off.  I was looking for a reliable implement that I could strap on as side arm and go just about anyplace in the sticks I felt like going without regard to tempature, weather, climate conditions.  My search lead to Gen 3 Glock 20 SF and on that occasion lightning struck.

Pimped it a little with tritium night nights, stainless guild rod, heavier spring (to handle the hottest stuff) and polished the trigger a tiny bit.  At this point, wouldn't let it go for double the money in it.  Glock 20 SF is a fantastic sidearm!

Good luck.

Well, another question I have is, do you REQUIRE another barrel to safely digest stuff like Underwood?
My preferred load is the 180gr golddot....

I know cast is a no-no in the polygonal bore, but what about plated, coated bullets? I do reload, and as I understand it a big draw of aftermarket barrels are in the tighter chambers helping case life, but if I dont HAVE to have anything but a stouter spring to have it run well and safely with the good stuff I think I could be happy.

No... the stock barrel will handle Underwood just fine... along those lines it will handle plated and coated just as well.
Even hardcast will shoot fine with some care and knowledge.

As you mentioned, the main reason to get an aftermarket barrel is the tighter chamber ( stock glock is loose to increase reliability ) to reduce brass expansion for reloading.
Then again if you reload a full pass thru sizer will fix all but 'smiled' brass.

I use my G20, full stock.. I have a 20lb extra spring/rod , but really don't use it, with no problems over all loads. Don't mess with something that works !

No Sir, a different barrel for Underwood, Buffalo Bore, Double Tap, hot hand loads is NOT necessary.
20 to 21 lbs main spring all you really need (some don't even do that much, but helps reduce battering on your pistol if you shoot much of the hot stuff).  Not so with Colt's Delta Elite or any rampless barrel lacking any case support.

Your new Glock has enough case support to safely fire hottest loads; HOWEVER, you should carefully inspect spent brass from hot stuff for possibly signs of "Glock smile" before using brass to reload with (very good prudent step in with any used brass).  Under no circumstances should you reload brass case showing evidence of Glock smile, as it's not safe and cannot be made safe (discard).

Well, I dont have it YET  :)) working on it though.... whats nice is it looks like all Ill really need is a guide rod because I already have my LS Hunter setup to use glock recoil springs and have a spare 20lber lying around from when I was tinkering, and even a left handed large frame glock holster I picked up forever ago for nothing! Just would need some 15rd mags and id be set!  :D
