I know that ones in the know say that 800X meters like crap , with a slide bar type powder measure .  I would like to know if an RCBS Charge Master would work ? Each charge would be weighted in the drop pan .

I just picked up some 800X at Bass Pro. ,

TIA

It will vary but I use 800x in my Dillon 650 without too much headache.  I found that if you ran very smooth and consistent rate , accuracy isn't too horrible.  I just avoid using max charge to keep from getting variability that is above max data

Agreed.. even with the Lee powder dumps you can keep it in a range fairly consistent.

It's just you have to be happy with +/- .3 grains.  :)

Can't help you w/ the RCBS, but I use the Hornady LnL measure and it works "ok" with the larger diameter "rifle" insert.  I can get +/- 0.3, but occasionally throw a -1.5 which is obvious before setting a bullet on it.  I'll never buy 800x again.  Got 1lb left.

I use a RCBS  charge master. Most of the time, it will throw the requested charge. occasionally, it will be .002-.003 above the requested amount.  I am happy with it.

Yes it works great on the Chargemaster!  I normally run 100 - 200 at a time and I might get a few that drop a clump on the trickle speed and go over by a 1/10 of a grain.  I just dump it back in the hopper, put the pan back on the scale, and it automatically starts to drop another load.  Easy and works great for 800X.  It is not very fast though, slower than using a Uniflow, but if you want spot on weights, I love it.

Thank you very much for your post , and your help .  I have a Dillon 650 , but I thought that the 800X wouldn't meter well with the slide bar drop .  I thought I would have to weigh every charge .

Thank you very much for your help .  I think if the charge master gets it that close the should be good for me as well .

Thank you very much for your help .  I don't need to be fast .

I use a lee dipper, a trickler and a scale to weigh every charge. It's slower than using a powder dispenser sure, but I can still do 100 cases in an hour.

I use a lee dipper, snipped

Still have a set of the Lee dippers... and they can be fairly accurate....  If your consistent with the fill/tap level , the amount can be +/-  a few tenths.
Picking a load in mid range gives enough safety factor and allows ( for me anyway ) for a fairly fast fill rate of cases when i'm not near the upper end of the load range.

I've been experimenting with 800X in the 10mm for a little while now and  I'm not impressed. The accuracy just isn't their with the loads I've worked up so far.  I've had better success with 800X in the 357 and 44 Magnum believe it or not.
