Is this normal??

I've loaded lots of .45's and never saw this bulge. These are my first attempts at 10mm. Starline brass. Hornady die kit. It appears to be the bottom of the bullet. Could it be my crimping is too tight?

Well the picture is not there (please try to post the picture), but yes sometimes the case is sized down fairly small and the bullet can be seated to stretch it back out. 

But if seating and crimping in the same step the case can also bulge as the bullet is still moving downward as crimping occurs.  The cure for that is seating the bullet to the proper depth without any crimp being applied and in a separate step taper crimp to finish.

This is a Hornady set of dies that crimps with the seating die. I guess I can back it out, but don't I need to crimp?

Not good! 

What you will need to do is seat your bullet but raise your seater crimp die up, I use a 1/8" thick spacer to raise mine enough to keep the crimp from closing the casing while seating the bullets to depth.

After I have seated all of the bullets to the proper depth, I take the spacer out, so the crimp can be performed...you will adjust the bullet seater stem raising it up so it doesn't touch your bullet while crimping.  The space is used so you don't have to adjust the setting of you crimp.  But yours may be set too deep already...I set mine to close the case walls back against the bullet and you can see a slight shine on the case mouth edges.  for 10mm and 40S&W the measurement would be 0.4215" on that edge.

I might have spent way too much money, but for my single stage press I got the Redding micrometer seating die and the micrometer crimp die and it is so nice to be able to just dial in the settings without having to adjust the die.

Oh they are nice
