11th Hour

Been lurking for the past year and a half. Finally decided to register and post. Lots of good info on this forum.  I managed to locate and purchase a RI ROCK Ultra FS HC 10mm the other day. I'm very pleased for the $.  Tried 3 different loads that I had been shooting in my G20.  It didn't seem to like either of the 2 hardcast loads at all. But went to town with the 180 XTPs. The best I've ever shot with a semi auto hand gun for sure. Can't wait to get back to the range. I have several striker fired Pistols but this is my first 1911 style.

Just to confirm...THis is the high capacity model....

How many rounds can you stuff in the magazine?

Any idea if this follows the same pattern as the ParaOrdnance guns?  If so, pick up some of these:  http://www.triplek.com/Products/id/38/grp/412/prd/1009/

My Para P16-40 converted to 10 runs great with these mags.  They are a bit spendy, but they give you 17 rounds on tap.  In fact, mine will hold 17 rounds, meaning I have 18 in the gun.  I generally carry with a flush fit mec-gar 15 round mag, and two of these backup with 17 in each.  That is 49 + 1 in the tube.

Also, not to pry, but what did this actually cost in the wild?

I haven't stuffed the factory mag to max capacity yet. I was just popping in 10 rounds per target.  It's advertised as a 16 rd gun so I assume it's 15 +1.  17+1 would be excellent. Next range trip I'll function test it with full mags.  I had 2 P16 mags from advanced tactical come in yesterday.  I'll check both factory and after market mags when I get home.  I gave $623 for it at 802 traders.com    They had 5 in stock when I pulled the trigger a coupple weeks ago and less than 24hrs later they had none.

That is an amazing deal IMHO.  I paid a bit less for my Para, but it was a very tired gun.  Between fees, upgrades and blood I am into it more than that now, and it is not replaced by going down to the store.

I am going to have to add one of these to the safe.

I expected serious growing pains for the double stack

I'll have some me time at the range next week to really run it through the ringer and try some new mags etc...  The one and only outing left me with a big fat grin.  By the way the factory mag holds 17 comfortably. The Advanced tactical mags hold 16.

Be interesting to see.  My Para won't eat certain bullet shapes (SWC) if they are seated longer than 1.250".  Other than that it runs like a top.  I have never encountered any factory ammo it won't run without issue.

Just wondering, if a new gun doesn't like certain ammo types, do you ever try it again after firing a few hundred rounds.  Could it make any difference?

After break in sometimes some things will change, but generally feed geometry issues don't change.
