18 or 19 pound Recoil spring for Glock 20L

I have a Glock 20L 3rd gen SF made mostly from Lone Wolf and other after market parts. Shoots fairly nice and is quite accurate. I shoot mild and hot loads.

Problems:

1. Chamber is super tight. Some bullet shapes and weights will partially hang but have no problem in Glock loose barrels. Typical of LW barrels. I don't want a full ream  to Glock looseness so I am lapping it myself. Slow but getting there.

2 The longer slide and tight chamber present spring selection challenges. A 17# is pretty light for heavy loads. A 20# is just to heavy for even the hottest load. The gun won't fully cycle.  Of course with light  loads the 20# is way too much. The 17# seems to work ok with light loads...but could use just a scosh more spring.  The mass of the slide does really make a difference.

So I am ISO 18 and 19 pound springs. Who sells those?

Try Wolff Springs. I run a 22lb just for Underwood from Wolff and stock for manufacturer name brands.

Very cool - yes, not sure why I didn't think of them for Glock this time. I have Wolff springs in many of my guns, old and new. Yes they have 18 and 19 pound springs.

My longslide won't even come close to running with a 22lb spring even with the hottest HOT ammo. THANKS!

Over time will a lw barrel got like a glock original or am I bound to sort my brass from each barrel after fired?

Best is probably to get it reamed. The chamber doesn't have to be quite as big as Glock, but frankly mine and sounds like yours is ridiculously too small. I looked for a local smith who could do it properly and no luck. SO I took a new approach. I got some valve lapping compound and some metal polish and some .45 bore brushes (10mm chamber is around .43")........and my cordless drill. Well so far it's not taking much metal and each time a polish. Nice and slow, but it seems to be improving.

LW told my buddy to fire some really hot ammo in his and it will improve.............I remain dubious on that one.

Cool. Thanks. I think I'll look around first and stay away from the super hot dubiousness rounds. I like my fingers

I run a 22lb in mine.  It's actually what LWD recommended.

Do you have a long slide?

Yep, the front one is it.

Mine doesn't cycle at all with a 22# spring.  Barely works with a 20# spring if I use MAX + loads.

Sounds like the added weight from the slide and barrel are adding just too much mass for the gun to cycle properly. I think you're on the right track with a slightly beefier spring but it'll be a pretty delicate balancing act, it seems, with the extreme performance difference from 17# to even 20#. It's not binding or anything is it?

Pablo

Wow the gun had one glitch at the range this AM. Pretty much ran perfectly with a 17# spring with all types of ammo. I fixed the problem by actually lapping the cylinder with a .45ACP brass cleaning brush and valve lapping compound. I've been battling this for awhile and didn't want to send the barrel in for reaming.

If anyone wants details on the cylinder work, let me know.

Pretty huge accomplishment!

I did have one premature slide lock back with a single round remaining in the magazine. I am not sure as to the cause.

Congrats?? Did I win something? :D ;D 8)

Seriously - $100 and who knows what I will get vs. a bronze brush, cordless drill and lapping compound, (and a couple varieties of metal polish varieties)

I still wonder why non one else besides Wolff sells 18 and 19 pound Glock springs.
