A few days ago I was contacted by Hunter, who is one of our members here on the forum, about doing an article for his website  RangeHot.com http://rangehot.com/.  So I put together an article about SwampFox Ammo as a tribute to Mike Willard.

Those of you who are interested can read the article here at http://rangehot.com/a-tribute-to-william-mike-willard-of-swamp-fox-ammunition/

Come back afterwards and provide some feedback and let me know what you think and if it is worthy.

Thanks!

well said. The more I learn the history of the 10mm auto and all of the great people who helped it become what it is today makes me wish I had found it many years ago.

Shadow .....enjoyed the story , thank you ....
..also would like to know if it would be safe/wise to use that load data.i

I load the 200 gr. XTP's for my guns using 9.4 grain loads @ 1240 fps.  I have fired the hotter ones safely, the way my guns are set up, but 1240-1250 fps is plenty!

Nice job, Shadow.

I have to ask, who came on the 10mm ammo scene first, Willard or McNett?

Sam

Actually Mike McNett did and his products were what kept the 10mm drive alive for those not handloading their very own ammo.  Mike was kind enough to share his range report notes over several forums, especially GlockTalk.  But as his business grew, he backed away from the various forums.  Some naysayers and agitators may have also spoiled that party.

I had the pleasure to talk with him back when I purchased my Bar-Sto 9x25Dillon barrel from him.  He does post on FaceBook on occasions and quite a collection of 10mm guns.  8)

After reading your outstanding Swampfox article I'm hoping you will also post here a link to your forthcoming NORMA article.

As with all loading, start low and work up.  In this case, start with published load data, work up to max, and if you feel adventerous, work very slowly up to that load.  A change in ANY componants could be dangerous at these levels.  We don't know what primers were used, so we have to start over.
