I haven't used them in a while for selling. Did I miss something on their fees lately? I got my invoice for the magazine I just sold and my jaw about hit the floor  :o

May 12 17:46:09   SMITH & WESSON S&W 10mm FACTORY MAGAZINE 9RD, 1006, 1026, 1046, 1066, 1076, 1086
Shipping and other costs less sales tax: $5.90 (Auction)   151678316819   Final Value Fee on Shipping    $0.59

$3.00 to list, looks like 10% final fee and what is the .59 final value on the shipping? I don't get that one and  10% seems steep to me on top of the listing price.

The fee on shipping ?
I asked the USPS and they said it is illegal to charge a fee to collect shipping charges
So when I asked them about it, Ebay's answer was; "So, if you don't like it sell someplace else"
Here's the catch....Ebay is run out of South Africa, and there's nothing the USPS can do about it
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

I stopped using ebay when they made paypal mandatory.

The fee on shipping is due to people jacking up the shipping costs to make a profit, it is actually what you would pay on income tax as eBay has to report what you get paid in shipping to the IRS. Oh, and just because eBay is not in the US does not mean they can't get in trouble. They have had to pay some hefty fines because they were not providing proper reports on their sellers to the IRS.

I read about it on the Community page this morning. Still a crock! I guess I will explore the free and low fee avenues of selling before even thinking of EBay anytime soon.

I did know they charge for a reserve price.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Bringing this back up. I guess I didn't learn and have another story to share when I get home. Another steaming pile!

I had a Fuji S7000 that I was using to shoot Wildlife, etc... and was in the process of upgrading to a better camera. It worked up until the day I removed the batteries, memory card, etc... perfect (The Shadow can vouch for that having seen them often). I took photos of it and up on EBay it went. I listed it under the category as "no returns accepted", because it's an electronic and that makes it hard to tell what a person will do in the handling of such an item. I also made one mistake in the listing where I forgot to uncheck Canada for potential buyers and that is who purchased it. That makes things more difficult and I also only charged $10.00 shipping due to the error! This is the deal on it...

- Buyer pays and asks two days later when his package will ship. It clearly states 3 business days and he contacts on a Tuesday (auction ended Saturday with payment Sunday). Shipped on Wednesday the 3rd business day. Real impatient!
- Delivered in BC 7/27 according to the tracking information
- On 8/5 I get an email from EBay that a SNAD "significantly not as described dispute" was generated. This without any contact to me about it 10 days after having received it! If you pestered someone about an item and then get it... don't you immediately check it out and especially something electronic?
- His reason was it was purple pictures. It's clearly black and that was stated as such. All the pictures were of a black camera. This part wasn't making any sense!
- Then I looked at a picture he attached:

Showing what looks like a purple screen displayed. I had heard about this model camera having the display going out from people asking questions about mine during the sale. It's also on YouTube, although mine was perfect when it left me.
- In looking at the picture it shows no memory card inserted and a low battery indicator. I responded to put fresh batteries and a card in it. His response was "card inserted and fresh batteries".
- Talking with two EBay CSR's didn't get me anywhere today. In the ad EBay gives "Buyer Protection Guarantee" and that trumps me putting no returns accepted. I don't even know why they have the check box and ask the question if regardless you have take the return!!!

I'm trying to fight it, but doesn't look good. I really don't want the camera back and not taking it I could lose the $75.00 and the camera too. It could just be buyers remorse and he figured how to purple the screen, switcheroo job, dropped it... who knows. Part of why I put the returns not accepted. My thinking is the battery/card thing is all that might be wrong and he gets out of his purchase on me after having it for 10 days without a peep.

Here is some interesting reading of what I'm up against:

https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/How-to-use-PayPal-Archive/Buyers-abusing-quot-not-as-described-quot-to-force-refund-when/td-p/15414/page/2

What route to take? Just stay the course of not taking it, or get it back and possibly show it works if it's just batteries and putting the card in? Even then I would probably need to do some type of realtime video with an EBay CSR showing it working fine to nail them on fraud.

I stopped using eBay a few years ago. I bought and sold several things; had a couple of folks back out of the deal as soon as they won; eBay did nothing; so I had to pay again to relist....think it was a eBay scam to generate revenue. A buddy of mine calls them eRape.

I don't think I've even logged onto eBay in a year or so just to browse.

Needless to say...not a fan of that online retailer.
Some days it's just good to be lucky; rather than just good looking!

Intercooler

I can't blame you. It seems since it's totally geared towards the buyer, you should just buy there.

Don't know where to begin on my eBay problems, honestly too much to type out..

Summary... Seller is rarely right and buyer is rarely wrong. eBay could care less who gets screwed over as long as they get their cut. PayPal is even worse. I know of quite a few who had accounts frozen for assinine reasons, one was nearly $250,000. Last I heard from the guy I knew at that company they were still trying to get it released. It had been 3 years at that point.

Intercooler

Although PayPal has been convenient I'm thinking about dumping it too.

I bought a motorcycle engine off ebay for $200 delivered. The seller shipped to some unknown address. Both ebay and Paypal said the item was delivered, so they didn't give me a refund. I lost $200.

A friend of mine sold a brand new Sig Sauer 22LR conversion kit. The buyer said it wasn't as described and returned it. The returned items was all scratched up. He looked at the other guys feedback and noticed that he had won another USED Sig Sauer 22LR kit a week earlier. The kit the buyer returned looked exactly like the used kit he bought. Ebay wouldn't give him his money.
