Sniper,
To answer your question, I got two RIAs...one 45acp gi 1911 and a 10mm ms tactical.  My 45 is one of the best 1911s I have ever error shot, super reliable with any and every ammo and accurate as it can be....I would put it up against  any brand out there..my 10mm ria is a turd and back at the factory for the second time.....we will see, so far I'm 50/50

I picked up a 9mm RIA 1911 a while back. It was horrible. The workmanship on it was awful. Matching marks everywhere, slide fit and finish was crap. It sounded like a maraca when you shook it. It wouldn't hit anything. Constantly shot about a foot low and 8" to the left. The parkerizing or what ever the greenish grey finish on it was horrible as well. I was not impressed to say the least. While I do not have an unlimited amount of money at my disposal, I prefer to buy quality firearms from reputable manufacturers. I know that any manufacturer can make a "Lemon" and I accept that but RIA is just cheaply made and made to be cheap. That in my opinion is not a good combination when I am holding something in my hand that is containing an explosion.

If RIA is your thing thats cool. Im not trying to change any ones mind or anything. Guess what Im saying is that they just aren't for me.

Interesting. I just picked up a RIA Commander in 10mm last week and I'm very happy with the fit and finish (especially on a $560 pistol).

Here it is

I put 100 through it this weekend and it shoots great.  I guess QC misses one occasionally.

I have two rock islands in 10mm and a kimber in 10mm. I bought an early full size ria it was tight but it had non-stop fail to feeds due to a gritty feed ramp, bad mags and my disconnector catching the slide. The finish on it was also blotchy but non of that was hard or expensive to fix. The only issue I've had with the kimber tle has been the finish has worn very quickly.  When I decided I wanted a 10mm commander to carry I was looking at Rian dan Wesson or something custom I decided to go the ria route and rebuild it the way I want it.
