After playing around with .45 in 1911's , I feel the time is right for a 10mm. I know Caloy Tuason at Armscor/Rock Island. Great guy. I know how to go through the gun and polish and tweak things, but what about magazines? Does Chip McCormick make mags for the 10? I like them in my .45's. I'm gonna load my own also. Got some BE-86 coming. Can't wait.

When I got my RIA 10, I order a MecGar mag right away.  It was pretty cheap, less than $20 if I remember right.  It works good.  I haven't had an troubles with it yet.  But the reading I have done made no mention of Chip McCormick mags.  Everything pointed to Tripp or Wilson Combat as the go to mags.  I am going to try the Tripp mags eventually. No specific reason, just what I have chosen to go with.

Thanks boss. Never heard of Tripp. Gonna look it up.

I have the RIA Tac II in 10mm. I use any and all of my 10mm 1911 mags. And I have quite a few different ones.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

if you're pleased with that guy tell him to make sure my gun gets fixed this time... It's going back to Rock Island for the second time for jamming issues it's the 1911 a1 MS tactical. Hopefully I can get past a magazine without a couple of jams on factory ammo. Best of luck with yours I hear some people do get really good ones I love the gun I just wish it worked.

Cool. You like the Metalform that comes with it?

Hey Will, I've heard some of the guns needed polishing and shooting to get broke in good. You know the high end guns need at least 500 reds through them before you should call and complain. Shoot that thing. Or get it polished. All the internals. I'm gonna break mine down and go through it good. Im just that way. Lol.

between the extra metalform and mecgar mags I bought I probably put 450 rounds through it ..different stuff like privy partisan, armscor, Buffalo bore, federal and underwood. The first time they took it back and they said they found a lump on the feed ramp so hopefully this time maybe they will get her running...cause I actually do like the gun...a lot

What is a good price on one of these (full size model) new?  I saw one at the gun show yesterday for $579 and almost bought it. Another both had one for $619...

Buds Guns has the RIA Tac II 10mm at $590. So that $579 is about right there.

I just ordered one from Lanbo's Armory for $547 and free shipping (I got the last one!). This will be my first 1911. They have just never interested me very much. I'm getting it just to get a different 10mm. It will be my 10th 10mm! I know they are supposed to have a double stack out this summer and I will probably get one of those if this one works good for me.

Ohh dude, I resisted that 1911 urge for years. Then I decided I had to get a .45 and I rented one at a range to see if I liked them. I was sold right quick. Now I have like 6 odf them, 3 of them being 10mm pistols.

I've had good results from Metalform 10mm mags in my Kimber STII. Their price is reasonable too.
Late to 10mm but loving it!

Just curious why everyone is so in to the RIA guns. I owned one for about 2 weeks. Will never own another. I would think people would avoid RIA's like High Point 9mm's but for some reason around here they seem to be cherished?

Just wondering.

Sniper,
To answer your question, I got two RIAs...one 45acp gi 1911 and a 10mm ms tactical.  My 45 is one of the best 1911s I have ever error shot, super reliable with any and every ammo and accurate as it can be....I would put it up against  any brand out there..my 10mm ria is a turd and back at the factory for the second time.....we will see, so far I'm 50/50
