Well ok... This is my first Glock, but since this was a 'test' I was paying particular attention to fundamentals and making every shot count.  I'll just have to pay attention and see what I'm doing.  Thanks

Never seen anything about it with Glocks but have seen it mentioned with other brands. Many say it's caused by the different slide speed between loading a round manually and during firing. Pull back the slide and release and don't use the slide release increases slide speed. Internet BS or truth? Don't ask me, I'm one of the worse pistol shots in the Western world.  :D I've noticed I miss left a lot on my first shot but just figured I wasn't concentrating since I can do the same on any of them.

I always miss on the second shot of the day.  First shot is fine.  Second shot I always forget to really concentrate and flinch the shot, usually down/left about 3".  After that, I am fine.

Yes, I pull the slide back vigorously and let the spring chamber the 1st round.  I'll use a pistol rest next time and see if there is a difference..
WHY DO THEY CALL IT COMMON SENSE WHEN IT IS SO UNCOMMON?

If you actually hit 1200fps with any round, that's better than I've seen in a while.  Usually seems from a G20 you're lucky to hit 1175fps, with closer to 1150fps being more of the norm.
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

Heya Shadow...

I went and loaded up some ammo with W540 and W571, 9.3grs and 10.6grs and shot 'em last weekend...
Hardly spectacular results..

As predicted, actual velocity was far below advertised.
Yep, the stuff inside those 175 Silvertips is Winchester's own.

Thanks for posting your results!  Blue Dot, Longshot and 800X would have yielded better results IMHO.  The info was Winchester's 1997 so like many others, the printed data doesn't match.  This is the very reason we go out and test'em.

Now to get some Underwood and break them down and see what's inside that makes them go bang and not boom!  :o

I have seen chrono results in the not to distant past that were lacking quite a bit compared to advertised velocity.  In the further past that didn't seem to be the case.  I definitely look forward to seeing your results!
Took the G20 and Chrony to range 25 Sept 2012, temp around 70 F.

Ten shoot string, average 1171 and s= 28.94.  Always had good accuracy. This out of a Barstow barrel. I always thought it was good ammo

I'm quite sure you are, but just to be clear, you are talking in reference to the 175gr Winchester Silvertip load?
