Hey guys, first post here.  I'm looking to load some berry's 165 fp and nosler 180 gr into some fresh starline cases.  I just picked up some of this powder and I wanted to load some medium duty loads for my g29.  Any ideas?

Three pages of seach results when I searched "Silhouette".  Lots of the references are for factory pull-downs.  Might be a good place to start.

Thanks.

Remember RamShot Silhouette is the same as the older discontinued Winchester Action Pistol, the data for both are the same.  Nice powder, good yield, clean burning, low flash, low recoil and less report.

Wow thanks for the info.  I was thinking 8.1 gr to start for the 165.  Not really sure about the 180 yet.

Lots of info on the nets and site... First thing I recommend is getting a couple of load books for data and also check the manufacturers web site as almost all post basic load data.

Load within book values and work up proper groups with increasing powder loads ... most of the time the most accurate round isn't the on the hot end.

practice safe habits...

Thanks.  Ramshot has load data for 170 gr, but not for 165.  I believe starting is 7.9 for 170 and 8.9 max, something like that.  I figure I'm pretty safe with 165 at 8.1.

Here is the Silhouette data from Western Powders  This data has been safe at the upper levels.

Good stuff thank you.  I'm excited to start loading 10mm.  I've mostly loaded 9mm in the past.

This is Winchester data which shows Winchester Action Pistol = WAP

I have used it for mild ammo with Precision Delta 180 FMJs. Nice powder. Meters well. Reasonably clean. It is not in a burn speed that I'd want to go for max effort though. I'll try to dig up my data when I get home tonight.

EDIT: Here is the data. Nothing too exciting. These are in the "FBI Load" territory. All three of these worked well. 7.5 is the start load from Ramshot. The max is 8.4 @ a 1210, although Western Powder data velocities can be a bit optimistic. That data seems unchanged from the load data that The Shadow posted.

7.5 gr 964 fps
7.7 gr 990 fps
7.9 gr 998 fps

CCI 300; 1.25"

G20 stock barrel and RSA.

Well I ran the loads through my 29 today.  Very mild recoil (for 10mm), minor case bulging which is to be expected in a stock chamber.  The loads were:

8.1 grains Ramshot Silhouette with 165 gr berry's loaded to 1.26 oal

8.1 grains ramshot silhouette with 180 gr nosler hp loaded to 1.26 oal.

Did you measure the case head expansion by chance?
