I spent 8 hours Saturday in front of two dutch ovens on a camp chef dual burner propane rig.  At the end I had two 1200 lb stacks of cleaned lead ready for bullet casting though.

Good times.  I get to do another 900 lbs next Saturday.

That is near the upper load of powder for the 180s... how did you get the lee disc's to meter well with 800x ?
I've never been lucky getting better than +/- .4gr with that powder... drops were all over.

Where on earth are you getting that much lead?  i cannot find any real quantity for anything less than pure scalper prices.

It's the only one that does meter it well. The trick for me is to keep it full and make the stroke smooth. If I do it fast then I've seen the amount change by a grain or two.

IMO, If you seen that much change near the high end of the powder limit, 1) I hope you were  VERY smooth with the stroke  2) wear gloves when shooting those.

Actually, Underwood used to load 9.4 grains of 800x over their 180's. Occasionally, there were ones I think were a little hotter. The other thing to take into consideration is that most of the Underwood I've measured the OAL is 1.251 to 1.255. I tend to load them a hair longer 1.265. Doesn't sound like a lot but should help compensate just in case I go a grain or so over 9.2.

Hopefully you won't go a whole grain over!  The HST is a fine bullet, although do keep in mind they're designed specifically for .40 S&W velocities.  I ran a few 180gr HST's at around 1200 fps and they were blowing apart and fragmenting pretty good, so keep an eye on that.
