Hey gang,
Jus got my jam-o-matic RIA 10mm 1911 Tac MS back from ria...it is the commander size version with the light rail. When I first got it I posted that it jammed about 4 times each magazine I only had one mag at the time but it didn't work with the 45 mags tried either...got it back from RIA today...they said it had a bump on the feedramp and extractor was out of spec. I bought 4 new mec-gar 10mm 8 round mags last weekend and loaded up some 180g nosler hp and 200g rnfp...loaded round 1300fps. Had a mag of each of those,  1 mag privi  180s,2 mag  federal 180s...it shot great, only issue was slide not locking back on the mec-gar mags...the metalform factory mag ran perfect....lemme tell you, what a difference in the ammo....shooting the store bought stuff, then the full power WOW!..nice kick.my first 10mm.....I was only shooting at steel targets, I'm going to take it to the range later and shoot for accuracy. I do hate how the mec-gar mags sit in the mag well...they actually counter sink due to the mag well extension on the rock island. I think I need to add bumper pads or maybe just order for more metalform mags like the factory mags now since the mec-gar don't lock back...what do you guys think?

If the stock mag works for you send me a pm I will send you mine.

Good news!  Seems RIA is working hard to make the guns that don't run good right with the customer.

True....but I sure was hoping it was good out of the box..lol.. but shoots nice now, just gotta get some mags that lockback. And it shoots nice but I might need a heavier spring, not sure though...I did take the mag well extension off and it feels and looks better.

Given the alternative in a non-glock 10mm in this range is luck of the draw + less than stellar customer service, I am thrilled to see RIA standing behind their product.

It is like the old addage...You can have it any two of three ways:  Perfect, cheap, now.  RIA is cheap and now, but not always perfect.

Next we will see how the high end EAA goes....once I decide which one ;)

Ok another six mags through her today. Shooting excellent I'm very happy with this Rock Island. Seems to be accurate and fast on target with these hi viz sights. All the mags are even locking back now except for one and I have it singled out. I took off the mag extension for the well and it seems to work great now!! really nice pistol.

Sorry to hear of your trouble with the pistol.  I haven't heard of this. Ive been keeping my eye on them. The commander size seems to be harder to track down.

They have been plentiful on gunbroker the last couple weeks.

I've had really good luck with the Metalform 10mm mags in my Kimberly STII.  Same as Kimber factory mags.
Late to 10mm but loving it!

I guess technically my problem is that I haven't found any of my current distributors that are carrying that model.

I agree I've been looking for the commander size for a while when I just happened to walk into a local gun shops and he had one on display.I got a  595. 00 plus tax so I think I did okay on it.. now that it's been back it seems to shoot really nice and it fits my hand great. I'm not really a 1911 guy but this one is growing on me quickly.and honestly, this is one good looking handgun with a VZ grips.

My suggestion for the mag not locking the slide back is to take the slide off, insert the slide stop and then the mag. See if the follwer is even making contact with thd stop lug. Steve

thanks Harley, I tried this today everything look to be in order. I went out and shot another 5 mags through it and only one mag didn't lock back. Could be because I was doing a rapid fire drill. I tell you the more I shoot this gun the more I like it. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite handguns. This 10 mm round kicks ass!

Wait a second! You tried .45 ACP mags in a 10mm pistol and expected them to work? Granted the pistol was at fault for being out of spec. but the 10mm mags and the .45 mags are two different beasties. Problem is, either one will fit in a 1911 type pistol. My Nephew screwed up with me on a range trip once and wondered why the .45 loaded mags weren't working in my 10 mm pistol. (I had both a Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm and a Springfield Armory 1911A1 GI .45 ACP that day. Both are stainless steel pistols and look almost identical)
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?
