What powder is your 2nd top choice of powder for your 10 mm loads. I did not list Blue dot or Power pistol as I think they are a #1 choice of most, not all of 10 mm loaders. Thanks for voting.

I voted LS (because it's tied with 800X for top velocity) but think AA7 and AA9 are two of the best depending on application. I honestly think the BD/PP combo is *Alliant's* best combo whereasthe AA7/AA9 pair is *Accurate's* best combo. And I think Accurate edges out Alliant AND Hodgdon overall in this regard. To be clear. :

Hodgdon's LongShot and IMR800X are great powders for the 10mm if you are looking for the highest velocity numbers.

I have liked Blue Dot in 10mm and have used it in heavy loads with great accuracy and clean burning and the pressures are usually less than others trying to make the numbers.

The LOVEX D037-01 powders which are being used by Underwood measure like AA#7 according to the data.  It burns very clean, but it takes quite a lot of powder to get the results.

Based on things I've seen in loading data and the pull downs, BE-86 is going to be a great powder. Powder Pistol, CFE and others are good performers as well.

I agree, BD is my top powder and AA#7 as a second. I have LS and use and like it but 800X has eluded me for years.

New to reloading for the 10mm (not other cartridges) and I have worked up loads for LongShot, BE-86, and 800X.  I have a pretty good supply of all 3, I think the order is 1) BE-86, 2) LongShot, & 3) 800X (just because it doesn't meter as well as the others).  Primary bullets I have been using are Hornady 180 grain FMJs, XTPs, and HAPs.  I have several 200 grain XTPs as well as Nosler HPs, but haven't loaded any yet.

Vihtavuori 3 N 37 for lighter bullets

Vihtavuori 3 N 38 for heavier bullets.

i like 800x it smells like pepper. I don't like BD because half the powder doesn't burn

Taterhead

Blue Dot is actually my second favorite 10mm powder, behind A9, but it wasn't a choice. I went with my 3rd choice, LS for the poll.

Interesting take on a polling question. Usually these things ask for "favorites" rather than "second favorites." It would be interesting if you asked the same question, but added the PP and BD to the selection.

Blue Dot is kind of Jeckyl and Hyde. It is simultaneously one of the dirtiest and is also the single cleanest burning powder that I've used. At less than very warm pressures, it is sooty and dirty and doesn't always burn cleanly. Get it close to, or at max, and cases are so clean they look almost look like they were cleaned in one of those sonic cleaners. The weird thing that I've found, though, is that it still reliably groups even when down loaded a bit.

sqlbullet

That is spot on.  Blue dot needs some heat to run.

Yes, Taterhead is absolutely correct about needing to have denser charges to get the Blue Dot to burn super clean, using a magnum primer can also induce enough heat and brisance to get it to burn fully.  I started using Hercules Blue Dot in 12ga hunting shotshells pushing heavy 1 1/4oz payloads 1979, also in many of my 44 magnum and 357 magnum cartridges but it has seen plenty uses in 38spl and 9mm.  Then in early 1990 I worked up loads for the 10mm which also showed some of the most accurate loads with jacketed and my cast bullets.  ;D  Even the 9x25Dillon and 357Sig have worked well using this Blue Spectacle of powder.

I am about to empty my 3rd 5lb canister even after going through several one pounders in the early years...

I voted Longshot, but really it's probably my #1 powder, although I do like Power Pistol a lot.  I think 800x is great but since it doesn't meter well it's not a good choice if you want to load a bunch.  The only issue I've found with Longshot is that sometimes it gives really erratic velocity figures when working up loads, but once you find the sweet spot it not only delivers in terms of power, but it also gets very consistent.

My favorite before I began reloading them with Blue Dot was HP38.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

sqlbullet

HP38 would be economical, though not really a performance maximizer.

I started with titegroup. That was what I was using for 40 and everything else. I have used#9, longshot and HS6. HS6 is still pretty good for lubbed lead bullets.
I have blue Dot, 800x, and Autocomp in the kitchen.
My go to is longshot. A#9 If I'm trying to get maximum performance.
