Excellent news guys..thanks....now I gotta decide. ..the 20 is but 100.00 cheaper and available now but they are taking orders on the 40....got some thinking to do

The rumors I've heard, and they are rumors, so take them what they are worth, the G40s should be shipping later this late spring, early summer.
Some days it's just good to be lucky; rather than just good looking!

The G40 is a cool idea, but I personally would have more use for a 20.  Then again down the road if I see one I may grab it.
10mm + .40 S&W

I see it as glock 40 for hunting animals and glock 29 for people theres no reason to own a model20 now?

Seems like Glock is doing the right thing.

Long, medium, short.

I bought my 20SF and turned it into a long slide before I knew about the 40. It is what it is, and I still have the standard slide and barrel and mess of other barrels. I'm a happy camper.

Negative ghost rider!

The glock 20 is a fine piece of shootin' iron. IMHO is is Glock's best.  ;)

You won't regret a G20!

I carry a 20 frequently. What does that do to your point?

My point is sirs my glock 29 will do anything that my glock 20 will do. When i sumday soon buy a m40 my m20 will just be in the safe. Theres nothing wrong with a glock 20 ive killed 3 deer and 1coyote with one. Sum glock owners buy every size model glock they make. Me personally how i use 10mm the smallest and largest models r what i most use.

I see no reason for the Glock 29. The G20 is for home defense or open carry (trail gun), and the G40 is for hunting. If I need something to conceal, it will be my G20 9mm, XDS 9mm, Colt Officers 45ACP, or S&W 60 357.

I kind of feel different. I conceal my Glock 21 Gen 4 everyday even during hot weather under shorts and a t-shirt. If things get really hot I do change to the Glock 30 but I have no trouble concealing the 21. Besides. 16 rounds of 10 millimeter kind of gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I will eventually get a 40, but my 20 isnt going anywhere.. it is my favorite pistol and only my 23 and ruger 22/45 come close. I really do not have a problem concealing the 20, i dont have any expensive holster so i usually end up using a desanits generic leather iwb and appendix or small of back carry with it.

I'm with these last few posts; the 20 and 29 fill their respective roles and the 40 will fill a role that the 20 and 29 sometimes can't. It's possible to turn either into an optic running long-slide, sure, but not without a bit of doing (and time, and money) on the owner's part and that usually entails quite a few aftermarket parts. Some people aren't comfortable doing that much work on their own guns, or don't have the time, or just simply don't want to, if for no other reason than their preference for keeping their guns "factory." There's as many reasons as their are owners. In my mind the 20 can do most of what the 40 does, as far as hunting and target shooting goes, but at the same time it's role is more specific so its applications are more limited. The same can be said of the 29 and the 29; each has their advantages for their respective owners and each does A job but sometimes it's better to have a better-optimized tool for a particular job, as anyone who uses tools professionally will attest to. In my opinion the 40 will never fully replace the 20, that's just out of the question, but it will certainly have a solid presence in the market area that it hopes to enter. I appreciate that Glock is expanding its offerings and is interested in trying new things and developing new products, even if they're slightly more esoteric sometimes. It's always nice to have options, especially if you're that guy out there that just loves Glocks but absolutely refuses to buy a bunch of aftermarket parts to build his own long-slide 10mm with an optic to go enjoy his first hog or whitetail hunt. For him the 40 is what he wants, for me the 20 is what I want and now we're both happy.

There is no doubt that Glock is going to sell a good number of G40's. They won't sell as many as they will of the new single stack 9mm Glock 43 (which will sell in droves), but the G40 is here to stay in my humble opinion.

To be honest, when the concept of the G40 first came out I wasn't all that interested. I figured two G20's was enough. But now I think I will be taking a serious look at the 40.

Great discussion!
