Testing Session #1

So this past weekend I went out for some shooting, was a nice day here in central ohio. Took my chronograph and some 10mm loads I loaded up. To my surprise, this was my very first test session with pistol rounds to give me single digit ES. I was pleased!

Gun Used:
Glock 20
6" KKM Precision Barrel
ISMI Captured Guide Rod
20# ISMI Flatwire recoil spring

Test Ammo:
180gr Speer Gold Dot
14.9gr AA #9
Starline Brass
Winchester Large Pistol Primer
1.259" COL

Primers were seated deep into the primer pocket, I use my Lee SS to prime these.

ES of 6fps, I feel this is a pretty good load, brass seemed good, and will more than likely be using this for Deer Hunting in the fall.

Great report. It looks like you have some nice consistent (and speedy!) loads. I have known Accurate no. 9 to give some tight SDs on velocities at higher pressures. If I might ask, how were groups? Any photos of your groups?

Thanks Shadow! Was a fun test, I had tested some other loads as well, I used my Hornady Manual and the pull downs, mainly the 180gr gold dot from underwood. I did a 9.4gr of 800x load
and the Hornady book max of 10.1gr. Neither one gave consistent velocities like the AA#9 did. But I will say the 10.1gr load was stout. IIRC the strings for the 10.1gr load with the 6" barrel
were as follows, 1438, 1405, 1457, 1399, 1422.

Taterhead, as for groups I did not test this yet, but plan to follow up with it soon. Hopefully having a low ES will have results like my single digit ES in my 243win went, but I doubt I could cut a .173" 5 shot group at a hundred yards lol

As a side note, I should have mentioned when I worked these loads up, I used my RCBS chargemaster 1500 powder dispenser. I then would verify on my RCBS beam scale. All primers were seated to the same depths,
overall length run out was ± .003" So therefore it may have fared better with a different primer or some other variable that I didn't figure out yet

I have the Hornady version of the Chargemaster. I have yet to see a bad weight thrown on it that didn't double beep and say overcharge.

Yes I haven't had one be off either with mine, awesome piece of equipment to have on the reloading bench!
