I have a 2002 model with serrations on the front. There have been various differences throughout the years. Serrations have come and gone then back again. Slides were square, then rounded, now square again.

Hmmm...I always wondered why some people talked about the "old square slides".   

I figured this pistol was relatively new given the fact that it essentially has no wear and the serial number is the highest I have seen.  Maybe I'll try and give EAA a call to see when this thing was actually made.

I'd really like to get to the bottom of this. I wonder if the factory had extra P Carry frames and not enough cone barrels to match so they made a run with regular slide and barrels just to move units?

let us know if sight fits the dovetail...if its taller(sets higher out of the dovetail) it might work for my wifes sar k2p

I have been wondering the same thing.  It seems that people have talked about the wonder finish slides being the ones that had corrosion/cracking issues.  Some of those have complained about getting blued slides back when they sent their pistol in for repair.
I wouldn't be surprised if they ran out p-carry slides for warranty work so they began scavenging slides off of P-Carry models.  After a while, they needed something to do with the frames, so they slapped compact slides on them and made an in between model?  Just a theory, but it would make sense.

Well, I just got off the phone with EAA. 

She said my Witness was imported in December of 2013, that it's a 10mm, and it has a full size polymer frame with a compact slide. 

I told her I had looked through their catalogs and didn't see this model listed, so I was wondering what model it was considered to be.  She said "Well, this one is a bit of an oddball.  It's a lot like the P-Carry, but without the wonder finish slide."  I went on to ask if it was some sort of one-time run that was made up due to excess parts.  She told me that while it is kind of rare, it is a current model that they are still importing. 

She actually seemed a bit excited about this model due to it's rarity/obscurity.     

So...I guess it's a model that Tanfoglio is making, but EAA isn't importing a large enough quantity to give them a page on their catalog.   


BTW, after reading a lot of complaints about their customer service, I wasn't expecting much from this call. 
I was pleased to find that they answered the phone right away, and the lady I spoke to was very friendly and glad to provide information right there on the spot.  I didn't even get put on hold.  She had the info for me in just a few seconds.

I checked mine that I bought last August and it says witness P-F

It's the same, I believe I spent under $400 with ffl fees etc.

One thing I should mention:
My pistol shoots low, just like every one I've read about.  What is the best source for an adjustable rear sight?

You can always file the front sight blade down a little bit at a time until you get it to shoot where you want.

The new rear sight came in.  It is a nice high quality steel sight, came with the proper allen wrench to remove the old sight and install the new one, plus a nifty little keychain adjustment tool.  The dovetail is the correct size for my "new style" slide with the 11.5mm dovetail.  The only problem I see is that the sight adjustment will only go so far down before it hits the slide (because it's longer than the original sight).  I have seen where some have taken a little material off the sight to get the rest of the downward travel, but because my gun has been shooting low, I think it will be just fine as is.  Here is the new sight on the Witness P-F:
