Soon to be Witness owner...anyone have recent model variations nailed down?

Hey everyone.  First post, so a little background...I have been a die hard 357 Magnum fan my entire life.  My favorite handgun is a late 70's Ruger Blackhawk that I have been shooting since I was a kid.  For carry, I have always gone with revolvers (since you couldn't get 357 Mag in anything else).
Well...I recently decided to look into getting an autoloader.  My first thought was to go with a Coonan (for obvious reasons).  After hearing nothing good about the reliability or finish of their new compact model (not to mention the fact that it has the same capacity as a revolver), I started looking elsewhere.  10mm was the next logical choice, and somehow I stumbled upon the Witness line.  Dropped into a local gun shop that had a 9mm Witness P full size...it was like they molded it for my hand. Fit and finish was nice, and I love DA/SA.  I was sold on the witness.  Off to look for one in a proper caliber.

I decided a P-Carry would be best for what I need from a pistol, and after some searching I came across one...sort of.  I went ahead and bought it.  Hoping to have it in my hands yesterday, but I don't expect to see it until early next week.

It is obviously a newer model as it has a square slide and forward serrations.  The big questions is, it seems that all P-Carrys have the full size grip/frame marked PF, but also have the wonder finish slide/3.6 barrel.  This one is a full size frame with the PF, but has a blued slide/3.6 barrel.

On that subject...is there any difference between the frame of the PF and PS, or the slide of the PF and the PC?

Thanks,
Phillip

Phillip, welcome to the forum!  Good luck with your procurement of the P-Carry, will be interested in you range reports as you get to know your firearm.

Best regards!  8)

I didn't care for the Wonder finish.  I "wonder"-ed what it did.  My Witness is now Cerakote black.

To be honest I often wonder if EAA cranks out some "parts" guns from time to time.  As long as they run good, that is fine.  It just creates some real diversity out there.

Yea,  I'm not too worried about not getting the "wonder" finish...though they do look good in two tone.   I guess if someone asks, I'll just tell them it's the P-carry model.  Dimensions mean more than colors anyway.

I'll keep you guys posted on how it turns out.

Thanks, Phillip

The P Carry comes in both a wonder finish slide or a blue slide.

I actually like the Wonderfinish, whatever the hell it is it seems to be pretty durable and doesn't look bad imo.

The left side of my witness rusted and pitted a little after a week at camp with the scouts.  During that week it lived in a leather holster, not even getting the night out to breathe.

I didn't mind the look, but I didn't find it particularly durable.

Hmm...Interesting.

Another question came to mind.  It seems that the P-Carry is said to have a 3.6" cone barrel, whereas the P-compact seems to have a 3.6" straight barrel.  Is this correct?  The thing that really throws me off is the fact that EAA only lists one style 3.6" barrel on their parts offerings.

Thanks,
Phillip

Yes that's true. You really need to call EAA on the phone to get anywhere with a parts order .
