All threats are not the same, thats why its hard to give a opinion.

I don't think ISIL is a real military threat, but I think they are threat in the sense that they are a armed movement using Gods name in vain. They clearly have visions of expansion into the Middle East, Africa and Europe. If we allow them to expand, they later could become a threat. Its a nip it in the bud moment.

So my opinion in the short and long term the greatest threat would be ISIL type terrorists.

Domestically, what is a terrorist?

The man in Texas that hung his 2 young boys.

Or the Cop in NY that killed his 2 daughters, 3 dogs and himself?

Well, CNN is reporting that Obama's DHS says-
