Michael's brother was killed when a round penetrated him, a wall and Michael's nemesis. The team found the schematic for the rifle that was used to make that shot.

It was a .950 caliber round!

Enjoy the show and sights of Miami Beach.

The attached image is from that episode. Obviously not for a real gun. Thought the choice of fake caliber was funny. A Barrett .50 would have been more than enough.

A few seasons back, several characters used Baby Eagles. In one, Fiona realized the bad guy was "serious" since his Baby Eagle had a "combat grip".

Most all the scenes are filmed in Miami Beach, avoiding Miami and nearby cities. One time, I ventured into Hialeah to see what I could see. Cops had people proned out on pretty much every block. Not good to film TV shows there.  :)

I have never watched an episode of of Burn Notice so I dont know what the sniper rifle looked like.  But the caliber of 950 is more real than you think.  The 950 JDJ.

If you dont feel like watching the video.  950 JDJ is a 2400 grain bullet loaded in front of 240 grains of powder at a cost of about $40/round.  Fired at 2100 FPS it has a muzzle energy of 25,400 foot pounds.  Felt recoil is "like 10 30.06's fired at once."

Watched the video. Guess if it can be imagined, someone will build it. Wow, the reaction of the shooters.

They haven't shown the rifle on Burn Notice yet, just its effects on a couple of people and a concrete wall.

Thanks for the info.

It's been around for a while.  Would I shoot one, or actually entertain the idea of having one?  HELL no.  They're as much fun as the .600 Nitro pistol.  Don't need that one, either.  Makes for good video, though.  I won't worry, though.  They'll be on CA's next go-round of the ban list, anyway.  Want to make some big noise?  Build a cannon.  Way less $$ to load, and you don't have to shoulder them.

I wouldn't shoot one either. Except for driving sports cars, I tend to be careful with body parts I might need later.

This, but for me it is motorcycles.

2400 grains = 5.5 ounces

Guess 12ga slugs don't seem so hard core.  I wonder if 5.5 ounces would be similar to what an 8ga would launch?  Heck, that's enough lead to remind me of the Cannons thread.
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.
