First things first it's tight it makes my kimber seem loose. Finish not so great but I plan on getting it refinished what really got me though was I tried to hand cycle it and every round was hanging up so I took it apart and the edges of the barrel weresharp and the brass was getting caught on it, problem solved. I ran into another problem with uw 135 grain noslers I took it apart and just started dropping rounds in the barrel every other round I had would simply drop in but those had resistance,  I also tried other guns with no issues.

I have found the RIA 10mm to be a tighter chamber despite a lower quality barrel. Even with a factory crimp die from lee, my hand loads had a decent resistance, especially once dirty. I had to do lots of work to get mine running properly, post some pics of jams it gets when you take it to the range and Ill help out if I can.

Oh and yes, they are very tight guns, I was astonished at the frame to slide fit for the price. Its why I have held off on getting it coated in nickel boron.

Here are a couple of example pics of what I'm talking about.

Tight chamber my reloads I use a pass thru die to make sure they are sized down after running through the Glocks especially. Tight chambers if using reloads can be problem. Another thing new brass and or factory ammow run a few hundred rounds through the gun then polish the ramp and chamber and things will run better.

You might want to consider picking up a 10mm case gauge.  It will help you know if your issue is ammo that is a bit outta spec of if you need to have that barrel loosened up a bit.

Take the round that is sticking and push and pull it a bit. You should get a rub spot where its tight. Bet the bullet is slightly crooked. Like others have said, lee factory crimp die or push through die should fix it.

Finally made it to the range, I used armscor pmc and underwood 180 grn. No feeding problems but my slide would keep locking open especially with the underwood, I made sure I was not touching the slide stop but the problem persisted.

i have the problem of federal trophy bonded walking foreword and hitting my slide stop in my kimber...out of my 100 or so reloads iv had maybe one do it and that was at 1.260-1.261 iv went down to 1.25 and nothing yet

edit...but then again my witness choked on one those tb jsps its first and only choke

Last night I took the slide off put the slide stop back in and inserted a loaded mag and discovered the mag itself was pushing it up. I compared the slide stop to my others and it went further towards the magwell than others so I filed a small amount off the base of it and now it seems to work. Hopefully back to the range Sunday or Monday.

Like I said, takes some tweaking, but if your willing to put in the time, Rock Island guns truly become YOUR gun.

I was frustrated with mine, but now that I have it running correctly, its in the short list of guns I have no intentions of trading unless I am in dire straights.

I agree my full size Ria was a pain but now it's sacred.

Ok I made it to the range again and my kimber mag ran flawlessly and my tripp mags were better but not perfect.  I want this gun as a better so I already removed the magwell and I planned on using kimber mags anyway.

I prefer my RIA Tac2 10mm over my twice as much $ Kimber Eclipse 10mm. It never ceases to amaze me how sweet the trigger is. Steve

Got  my Rock Island 4.5inch MS tactical about 2 weeks ago. Has several problems with it jamming it seems the bullet would stick on the feed ramp and not go all way in the battery. it then stove piped a live round I've never seen it do that. 200 rounds, only semi-reliable mag was the one that came with the gun....I tried several 45 mags so I'm not blaming the gun for those fail to feed or fail to fires. Back to Armscor it went we'll see how it fares when it is returned.
