First 10mm reloads, 800x, sparks, ??

Fired my first 10 10mm reloads over the weekend.

180 Hornady HAP, 800x, once-fired, inspected brass, "too lazy to go downstairs and look" OAL.

2 each 8.0 - 8.8 grains in 0.2 grain increments.

Brass was okay.  Primers a tad flat, but not so much to concern me (see pic).

Bothersome was the sparks coming out when fired.  I assume it's those big old corn flakes of 800x still burning upon exit.  Reasonable assumption?

800-X is flashy. I wouldn't worry about the sparks unless it is too distracting. If so, I'd recommend Accurate no 7 for a decent performing low flash powderm

The primers are a bit flat, but that might tell you more about the dimensions of your chamber than what's going on with pressures. Primers are really tough to read. Do factory loads shot through that gun look like that? My guess is that they do.

Did you get chrony readings, by chance? Probably high 1000s to mid 1100s over that range, I bet.

Thanks Tater.  Factory rounds look similar.  Did not take the chrony.  Cold weather kept me indoors.  I have 2lb 800x.  It was "available."  I plan to use it for some low-speed rounds for high-volume days.  Will chrony when weather improves.

Have you chronyed these loads yet. ?
The Lee #1 manual shows HiSkor 800X as having the top velocity with 155 gr jacketed bullets.  I have just been linking with them at 8.7 gr. Haven't chronographed them yet. The Lee manual shows going up to 11+ gr with the 155 jhp. For over 1400 fps.  Hornady also shows 1400+ velocity.
