Cheap PPU ammo

Cheaper than dirt has these for 18.39 a box. Not bad at all. Just watch out, this site charges an arm and a leg for shipping.

I went online to order 500 rounds from Cheaper Than Dirt on a Sunday and with shipping to Denver, order arrived on Wednesday, cost was $205.00 Not too bad.

Ammo is very soft shooting.

But that kind of money, delivered for JHP's... good deal.

BTW... thought I'd mention... this ammo is ideal for breaking-in a new Glock 20SF. Yes, it's not the blast-boom of the Underwood or DT that I've been using. But for newbies (like myself) to the G20 10mm platform, the ammo is perfect for what it's intended.

Cheaper Than Dirt rarely is cheaper than dirt, and if they are they still rape you on shipping.

All that being said, I still ordered 440 rounds of their Greek Surplus .308 Brit. Especially since the stuff was boxer primed. I reload, so I don't expect to run out of empties for a long, long time. The stuff was shipped pretty darned fast Fed Ex.

The price from Cheaper Than Dirt INCLUDING shipping and included two day service was CHEAPER than any other vendor I came across on the internet.

Yes... CTD has a very mixed reputation for their pricing.

But in this transaction, they were by far, the cheapest and fastest and not to mention, best facilitation of an order process than others I've used in the past or similar to this same order.

The PPU stuff is OK for plinking, but I don't mix the brass in with my other brass. I have NOT tried to reload it but people have reported "issues".

I have not paid more than $17 for this stuff (I have around 10 boxes now). I see some place ask up to $29 for this stuff. WOW. ${$default_shocked_smiley}$ ${$default_shocked_smiley}$

OUCH, boy Iam glad I saw this before ordering it may have been the end of me ever owning a 10mm again or worse,BTW was due ta reload or was this the factory PPU round.

What could possibly go wrong???

Wasn't this a reloaded piece of PPU brass? It's been proven out the PPU brass isn't good at all to reload. I haven't heard of a blow-out with the factory new ammo though.

I've never had a PPU case blow out yet.

Guys we are talking reloading the PPU. I have read the brass is not conducive to reforming. Maybe it just needs annealing, not sure.

The last line in Midway USA's description on this ammo states "This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases. ".

This was a reload that did this. Shadow did some analysis and found that PPU brass tended to spring back after resized, and that would lead to bullets being prone to being set back when chambered. I think Intercooler bought some reloads and noticed some OAL problems and that is what prompted Shadow's investigation. THANKS SHADOW!!! for your investment in time and talent!!!!

That PPU case cost me a G20 frame.

Don't reload PPU cases, or at least do so at your own discretion. I run my PPU cases over with the car after I shoot them to make sure it won't end up in my ammo box again.

If and probably when I get another box of PPU ammo, The Shadow will get some of the spent brass to see how it does with a reload as-is. Maybe they have made changes since then, but best just to use the ammo and hold the brass off to the side as recycle instead of reloading them.
