I test .44 Magnum as well and man are their some stinkers there!  :o

600-900 FT LBS out of a 7.5" barrel is not par for caliber I would think:

It's shocking Remington and Federal/American Eagle load them pretty good. Right there with Buffalo Bore!

Wow.  Those last few are just limp-wristed (the other limp wristed).  .44 spl should do that well.  Pathetic.  I hope they were really cheap.

They weren't too bad. It's weird but .44 Magnum isn't much more than 10mm  :o

I get American Eagle through my Bro at 1/2 price. Aren't I lucky considering it rocks!

Problem is I don't know who has any decent .44 ammo. PBR was one I had high hopes on their new .44's but they were excited their 300gr. hit 1100 FPS. That's not real strong!

I need to work on Kevin getting the heavy weights up there a little more and especially since I wouldn't spend a dime on DoubleTap test ammo.

I hear ya.  Cheap is good, for target stuff.  Less than 1000 FPE with any others is disappointing, if not pathetic, and 1000 is a lightweight.  A 7.5"er should do a lot better than that with anything.  I can only imagine what a 4.5" or less would do with those rounds.  If they want to cut costs, they can save some ink on the box.  I agree, they should do a LOT better with the heavyweights.  They aren't target rounds, and we don't use them for plinking rabbits.  Buffalo Bore, Federal and Remington look good (typical, as they should), but the others are falling behind.  Underwood is disappointing, which is unusual.  I may have to repeat those tests with another inch of barrel, and the rifle (maybe Underwood's compromise).  Often, weak handgun rounds do very well in a rifle, but that's the real test.  If they're weak in the short and long barrels, they're just weak.  I've never tried the Underwood or other minor brands in the rifle.  Maybe I should.  Just curious, ya know.  I load my own and they do a lot better than what you listed, but my long barrels are longer.

I'm in hopes of testing Kevin's new batch of Magnums. He's had a tough go with the heavy stuff but if he gets a screaming 240gr it should lead to a nice 300gr.
