Cool deal
Not familiar with the CS40
It's usually not the case with a dedicated 40 cal
The Mag Well and Receiver (front to back) doesn't allow for the length of the 10
Glad to hear you're getting this put together
Can't wait for pics and a report   8)
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

It's on the way to Ohio. Will report when it gets back here.  :D

Finished one of the magazine conversions. The follower is from a 1006 (10mm). New spring is for a S&W 4013 with 10% extra power (from Wolff). It matches the S&W spring (turns, wire dia). It does feel stronger, but it's new. Ripped out the old spacer instead of drilling out the spot welds, then smoothed the weld residue with a Dremel stone. It feels smooth but loading that 7th round was a bit stiff.

It's Baaack. The barrel arrived today but I haven't gone to the range yet. Looking forward to the first range session now!

Anybody have recommendations on how to re-mark the barrel? I was thinking I could file a flat spot to remove the "40 S&W" and mark that flat spot with hand markers to read "10MM". Or maybe take it to a jewelry engraver?

I asked van about his thoughts on the CS40 barrel. He said it's pretty stout and has done many of them and never heard of any problems. Excellent.

I buffed the "40S&W" out of mine and called it good.  If I should ever sell it (Never.  Gonna.  Happen)  I would probably have it marked.

StockIIBoss, Glad to hear you got the barrel back and anxious to hear the range report...What do you think of Mr. Van's work?

If you knew someone with a TIG they could fill in the stamping and then grind and buff.

Van's work looks good! I have no doubt it will work...at least once.  ;D

I opted to file the stamping down flat and will have it engraved. Pics will follow, of course. Just trying to come up with a creative way to say "10mm" since I have some extra width now.

1) Cal. 10 mm
2) CS 10 mm

I goofed up on the magazine follower and didn't notice at first that the slide lock wasn't activating because the 10mm follower sits too low. The 40 cal. follower raises to the very top, which it needs to in order to push up the slide lock. Bummer. Anyway, can those of you with converted CS40's tell me what follower you're using? The ones I purchased are from the 1006 10mm. I suppose I could glue a spacer to the back of the 40 cal. followers.

Dangit, this Forum did it again to me. Composed a reply and if your attachment is a hair too large you lose everything. Terrific! Not doing it again.

Yes, it runs great! The follower issue was fixed by simply sanding down the follower's plastic sides so it would pass by the hump in the magazine wall. I'm using the Wilson 22# flat recoil spring, and that was it for the conversion. The smith that reamed mine did a great job and said he's done many of them, and the barrel has great case support and is heavy enough for 10mm activity. I've had it at the range several times now and it's been a terrific shooter. Not a single failure or quirk of any kind and very very accurate. Surprisingly so! I still have the original rubber grips on it but want to swap those out one day with those modified plastic grips, just to make it a little slimmer. I might be sorry, though, since the current grips really feel good for shooting and recoil impulse is not as bad as other handguns I own. Very easy shooter, but hard to understand without trying it. I will say, though, that I still haven't fired any full power ammo through it (ie, Underwood, Etc), with the most powerful being PMC 170gr JHP. A fine self defense cartridge if you don't want to go all out with it. The other ammo I've shot is Armscor 180gr FMJ, which is a pretty mild 10mm load, and that's generally what I use for 10mm target shooting.

I haven't conceal carried it yet, but it's really doable, even as appendix carry, which is my preference. That's where the thinner grips would come into play. Unlike my XDS-45, the awesome part of carrying the CS'10' is you get 7+1 vs the .45's 5+1 and still have superior ballistics.  8)

I always compose long posts in word, then copy and paste into the forum entry...

Glad to hear it runs great!
