Anyone have favorite brands of inexpensive 9mm that has a little more oomph than the standard 9mm? I know S&B advertises their stuff is pretty hot but most chrono results I tried to look up proved that to not be the case.

IMI blue box 115gr, Speer Lawman 115 or Brown Bear 115. ZQI 123gr NATO from Walmart is about my favorite pop 9mm ammo currently.

The sheet should give you some possibilities:

Thanks! Always good to train with something closer to carry ammo.

Fiocchi use to be considered HOT ammo. I don't know if it still is (It looks like it still is).

Here is some 124 grain FMJ that is 1250 fps and 420 ft# of energy.

It is hotter than Speer, Blazer, American Eagle, Remington, Winchester White Box, and Winchester NATO,

It is only 50fps slower than Buffalo Bore 124gr +P+

For me and my G17, I mostly range 9mm with Speer Lawman in 115 or 124 gr or S&B.  I have tried out a box or two of most offerings and these work the best for my pistol.  Both are clean shooting and the S&B benefit being the smaller boxes for more compact storage.  The Speer FMJ loadings are pretty darn close to their HP rounds.  For the extra NATO loadings, I like Winchester or IMI (either brown box or the blue box Samson).  Widener's seems to typically have the IMI import brown box in stock.  I have a few boxes of Geco to try, just haven't gotten to the range yet after end of the year back surgery.  Blazer Brass shots great in my pistol also, but the small cost difference isn't enough for me to change.

SGAmmo is my go to online retailer (8.25% sales tax and for me it is 2 days at my door) and they usually have lots of options with good prices, esp. if you are buying in bulk with the case discounts.  I have always found their prices to be very competitive and they don't make $$ on shipping like some others I won't name.  I am just a satisfied customer for the past couple years and always like to support a family small business over a big corp whenever I can.  check them out for 9mm and most other calibers too: http://www.sgammo.com/catalog/pistol-ammunition/9mm-9x19

edit: they get their new stock in on Tues and Thurs mornings btw.  they usually get all the new stuff or quantities posted online by noonish on those days too.

The highest I have ever tested and I'm sure IC will concur would be the UW +P+ offerings.  The ones I duplicated using the AutoComp powder matched perfectly.  They were bad to the bone 9mm stuff!

I have some boxes of all three bullet weights for the UW +p and +p+.  the +p's are stout and I haven't shot the bad boys yet.  should be fun, loud and bright.  ;D

Underwood has the most zing out of the bunch. It's still extremely difficult to beat walking into Walmart and buying ZQI right off the shelf.
