Got the 45 bug and looking at 1911's.  SQLBullet suggested Ruger.  Quite impressive and under serious consideration.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Pat

I had the Taurus one and added some Wilson G10 grips to it. They are hand fitted at the factory. Mine was a tack driver. I gave to my nephew as a gift when he came back from Afghanistan on his second tour otherwise i would still have it.

Like my RIA Tac IIs. Have one in 10mm & one in 45. $700 at Cabelas. You can prob. do a little better.

I say go for the SR-1911. I was on a waiting list for several months> 2 yrs ago and got it for <591 otd. Think the going price now is about 650. Mine shoots anything I put in it. Trigger pull is about 4 lbs

My 10mm RIA Tac II cost me right around $600.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Sti Spartan or metro arms mac bobcut are best bang for your buck.

Raggedyman

Springfield Milspec or Range Officer. Probably the best pistol in that price range and definitely the best warranty at any price.

I would say SA RO or Ruger in .45.  If you want one in 10mm then I think RIA would be about it, or a used 1911 in 10mm.
