The CZ .45 i have came with the old glossy mag. Sometimes, rounds would nose dive. As of 2013, CZ 97 has a newer mag similar to the K.45 and K10's. What a improvement. Former issue disappeared. Point is, the Compact Witness mags are similar to the old CZ Glossy Mag. Diff cuts, bullet points higer in feed lip and overall plain better feed. I believe if the compact mags were same, it would be a winner.
Some sellers say the new K45's work in the CZ97. I happen to have a K45 new mag and it would not lock up. Also with mere observation there are angle cuts different. Suttle, but there. New CZ mags are pricey. 35 to low 40's a pop. Wadcutter. Not putting nukes in that Compact is a smart move. Most i did was some U/W 180's with a 18lb Wolf Spring.

I do have feeding issues if I top off the magazines with a full 12 rounds. I'll have a round nosedive just like you said, but I've never had a jam when  I only load 9 or 10 rounds in a magazine.. The biggest problem is it's undersprung even with wimpy ppu ammo I can feel the slide batter the frame which is a little disconcerting. Maybe one day someone will make heavier recoil springs for the compact. Until then I'm going to purchase a standard length slide in 10mm. It only adds 3/4" overall length.

I really like my Gen 4 G29 for the purposes you described.  Mine is reliable and accurate.  It is a good size to carry.  It makes me smile to shoot the powerful little beast.  Mine came with an exceptional trigger for a Glock with a surprise crisp break.

Two of my mags have the Pearce extensions for range and home defense use and two are stock for concealed carry.
Late to 10mm but loving it!
