Interesting night at the range last night.....

Went shooting with a new range friend.  He had just purchased a NIB Sig 226/MK 25 9mm - I THINK essentially the same model carried by Navy SEALS.  WHAT-A-SWEET-SHOOTER!  I have never been fond of 9mm but it was so damn accurate and smooth it was amazing.

THEN, the guys in the lane next to us starting shooting something that sounded like it actually equalled my Underwood 10mm.  WOW!  :o  I looked over and casually saw a 1911 and asked if it was a 45 or 10mm.  Answer: 22.  It turns out it was something like .22TCM.  WHAT?  Never heard of it.  Listened to it some more and my God what that loud - almost couldn't believe it.  THEN they said the velocities of the hottest stuff approached that of the .223 - WTF??  Turns out, they were shooting a Rock Island Armory 1911 style made just for that round.

So, my friend then pulls out a new S&W AR in .22 (real .22) with a really slick red-dot scope that could be turned into a green dot also.  Sounded like a mild fart compared to the 22TCM.  We shot for two hours and I had to end it with a mag through my new Glock 29 of Underwood.  Was getting a sound-complex otherwise.

All in all a great fun evening at the range!!!

The TCM has been in the gun rags hard and heavy ad wise for a year or better now.  Makes me long for a 223 boz.

I want a 22TCM, but I can't get one through normal channels in California, and the dies are expensive. I also am consolodating my calibers, and really don't need another one.

Yep, either the 224BOZ or the 10mm necked down to 0.308" no one has done that one yet.

However to make the 308, I would think setting the shoulder back some, yes it would decrease powder capacity, but allow for some of the longer pointier projectiles while keeping the cartridge COL at 1.2550".

It would be interesting to see what powder Armscor is using in the 22TCM's...

But the 9x25 Dillon using the 90-95gr bullets can achieve 2000 + fps. ;D

We could start with 10mm mag brass to buy some powder capacity.  Probably end up with a more efficient 300 blackout.

Checking the specs, I would bet that with a 10mm mag parent case you would end up within 5% of the blackout case capacity.  A shorter, fatter blackout.
