I want for sure to stay under $1,100 which would be the Colts.  All input is not only welcome but sought.

Thanks,

Pat

I voted RO on your list.

I wondered however, why the Ruger SR1911 was not on the list, especially given your desire to buy an american product...

Mostly oversight.  Tell me about it - trigger, reliability, etc?

Thanks

Wolfie

My Colt Gold Cup and standard have been flawless since day one with all ammo including the Federal Aluminum stuff.

I'm a Colt fan boy, I'll admit it right up front.  I have six Colt 1911s and they all run/ran perfect right out of the box.  My 10mm is a Delta.  You will never regret getting the Colt.

MOUNTAIN WILLIAM

My first and only recommendation would be an all stainless Dan Wesson. The fit and finish are second to none.

Like Mountain William, I can't speak more highly of the Dan Wesson pistol.  I've handled the Remington's, and have shot a few.  They seem to be a lot of pistol for under a grand.  If your looking for a 'build-up' look into the Rock Island line-up.

The Ruger is a dead solid entry 1911.  Biggest reason it might not make your list is some 'smiths won't file anything but colt and springer.  I wouldn't get one unless either...You love it how it comes, you wanna wrench on it yourself, or you know your preferred smith will use it as a base gun.

Based on your priced range and intended use.
Your list:
Sig Sauer 220
Glock 41

Write in vote:
Sig Sauer 1911 (American made) - Had one a couple years and been very pleased with it.  It's handled everything I've feed it (various fmj & jhp including non +p and +p) with no problems.  Accuracy been super.

Good Luck.

I would go with the SR 1911-I paid <590.00 about 2-2½ yrs ago and it has been faultless since that time. Only 1 problem and it was the oal of the handloads on a particular bullet head and when I shortened the oal, it worked just fine. Since that time, I have shot mainly 200gr  lswc and it feeds them w/o a hitch even w/ the non-ramped barrel. Think the trigger pull was 4½ lbs when I got it and have not checked it recently but it feels like it has improved.
Think my lgs has them for 629.00. Started not to get it because of the mim parts but finally bought it  as Ruger claims they have resolved  the problems w/mim parts

I am going to help you end your quest. By far, BY FAR, most accurate .45 NIB, is the CZ97B or BD. I'd put my life on it. Even 1911 Hags love it. Shhhhh. The new 2013 models till now have the updated Mec-Gar mags as as well.

If you really want the finest out of the box .45 ACP ever made. Find a nice, lightly used S&W Model 645.

Pac:

How is the trigger on the CZ 97?

Trigger is fine. On the 97B, less take up and creep compared to the BD (Decocker). But the mag improvement really helped. Almost like the Witness K45's by Mec-Gar.
