Hi all I am wondering if some could point me to some good powders and loads for 155gr jhps  for high velocity and accuracy for a stock Glock.20.sf .I have heard AA.#9 Is good along with power pistol and Alliants new BFE is good the two things I am looking for is velocity and safe pressures for my stock Glock.20.sf.  thanks all for any tips

Which powder do you want to work with?

155 JHP

Accurate Arms shows this...
AA#No.9 14.3 grains @ 1244 fps
AA#No.9 15.9 grains @ 1414 fps 32,700 PSI (actually on the low side still)

Alliant BE-86 is a powder that I am looking for to test with myself.
BE-86 9.3 grains @ 1403 fps (Max load no pressure values)

Alliant Power Pistol shows a 150 JHP
PP 9.7 grains @ 1415 fps 35,600 PSI

My best estimate would be 9.5 grains @ 1390 fps

Thanks  Shadow, I came on this forum because I get less repercussions asking on this board, by the way I did fire off the 180gr fmjs on top of 9.2 grains of Longshot ignited by CCI magnum primers with absolutely no over pressure sings  despite some feed back by  other folks  ;D ;D

You're welcome HalfGlocked, I totally understand, I hate when things get twisted around with attitudes.  When I was learning how to handload there wasn't an internet base of people that we could bounce ideas off of, or discuss what worked and what did not!

There are a few handloading and other gun related forum on Facebook but things can and do get muddy trying to follow what people are seeking and answers being provided.

One thing is for certain, I'm not too old or too lazy to try and learn new things... ;)

Thanks  I have a new Lyman book when I got kit but it is a good  ok I don't know about all the other loads the book doesn't have, nor do I have the experience yet with reloading especially with the 10mm, now I am  trying to. Find some AA no.9 for
Lighter bullets , the only place I found that has it is Lohman , and the Haz mat shipping is more than 1# of powder the powder is 19.99 and shipping is 25.00$ +9.00 fee  causing them to come out to 57.00$ for 1# does anyone have any other sources?

I use both Bluedot and Longshot for 150 grain JHP loads in my Glock 20SF.  The accuracy is great with both powders with Longshot giving a slight edge in velocity.

Thanks Radominator, I do have longshot I just thought  it was too slow for that light of a bullet .Now I'll do some more research.

10mm-Admirer

Power Pistol is a good powder for moderate loads.
Late to 10mm but loving it!

Vihtavouri 3N37 and/or 3N38 if you can find it.  I'm shooting 165 Sierras at 1350 over 12 grains of 3n38.

Sorry I didn't eve realize I did not list powder(s) all I have or cold find is Longshot, and I was worried that 155grainers would ve too lite?

Well I finally went out and got to test out the last load of 9.2 grains  of Longshot with CCI  primers seated Ar 1.252 and Hornady  155 xtps  and everything went well no ftf no bulging cases primers all good and I know the book doesnt show anything g below  180 grainers,I also know Underwood  exceeds that by quite a bit,I just asking .for hints  with any liability on who ever says it. But what would be a prudent next step up I. G20 SF  with stock barrel?

The_Shadow

I have seen loads past 10.0 with 155 and 165 grain HP's if you want to stay on the safest side 9.6 @ 1375 fps to 10.0 @ 1400 fps would be good to go with the 155 XTP's.

DT was at 9.4 with the 165 Rem GS
DT was at 10.0 with the 155 GD 1400
SF was at 10.2 with the 175 Silvertip 1375
UW was at 10.5 with the 155 XTP @ 1500

Thanks shadow ,and @UW they test these on Glock factory barrels  with the factory chambers I believe. So I'll start @9. 7 grains of LS would you think that that it would  be  a safe starting point and step up.1 grain at time up to 10.0?of course  checking casings as I go ?

I have shot a few hundred 155 XTPs using Bluedot. Lots of muzzle  blast compared to other powders I have tried.

:D  Blue Dot is vocal, without question. It does seem to like working with XTPs, though.
