Welcome aboard Mike!

I usually travel to Germany once or twice a year, usually to Dortmund.  Are you, by chance, near there?

Deaf Smith here! First post. I'm a Texican from, of course, Texas.

Funny, my name is Smith, but I am only partially deaf. Hearing aids work. (And no, I didn't lose my hearing from shooting! It sort of runs in the family)
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Hey guys,
I'm Pete, lived most my life in NY (no handguns) but I had plenty of long guns and still studied pistols because I had no intention of staying in an anti gun state and realized 10mm was the way to go with a pistol. I finally moved to PA and my current (pistol) collection is : HK USP (looking to convert to 40 super or 10mm), Sig 227 carry, Springfield XD .460 Rowland, ruger .44 mag, Smith m&p .357.  My 10's are a glock 29 w/xs big dot, a rock island armory tacII ultra FS (best 10mm 1911 I've shot so far) , and a converted GP100 that I'm in the process of selling.

I'm hoping to learn a lot about the different types of 10mm's . For example I payed out the @$$ for a Kimber tle 10mm and it was not even close to reliable, I bought a rock island for half the price and have yet to have any type of hiccup with the exception of aftermarket mags not doing the last round hold open. I want to get another glock but i'm torn between the 20 which I could probably get a longslide for and the 40 (I like how you can throw a 9x25 barrel in the glock). I've been checking out EAA but ive seen people have problems with real 10mm ammo and when you ask EAA they wont give you a straight answer all they say is "it will shoot any REGULAR 10mm" . I just spoke to the guy from grand power about getting a p4010mm (idk what happened to the p40L ) but ive heard about problems with those as well along with lack of chamber support. I only use underwood, sig, doubletap, etc. that are loaded to 10mm specs or I would have bought a .40 s&w.

So now i'm at the point where id like to add another to my collection and hopefully I will learn enough on this forum to make an informed decision. Plus other gun forums are all about "what could you possibly need a 10 for? FBI says 9mm is best, yada, yada, yada. I'm 300lbs and live in bear country I can shoot a 10 as well as a 9 and don't have to worry about predators while hiking.

Thanks guys great to meet you all,

Pete

Yes, welcome. All you have to do with the EAAs (Tanfoglio actually) is to replace the recoil spring and replace it with a Wolff 20 pr 22. Takes maybe three minutes the first time. `

Welcome to the forum Pete.  I visited PA for hunting trip there in 1976, had a great time in center county with some good friends that had family there.  With the collection you have I must ask if you handload for any of your firearms?
A few of our members do have the upper end Tanfoglio's and they made some subtle changes that have them handling the upper impulsed ammo just fine!
The Tupperware/Plastic Fantastic guns are neat that the aftermarket has so much to offer, especially the conversion barrels like the 9x25 Dillon.  Having 3 guns chambered for the 9x25 I can say that this cartridge shines with the longer 6" barrels.
Good luck with your decision, enjoy the forum and best regards!  :D

Welcome aboard mate and it's typo not tipo.   :D
How powerful is 10mm? Well, see those craters on the moon?

Welcome aboard mate.  :D

I have a Wolff #21 non-captive recoil spring set in my G29. Makes the gun easier to handle even with 40sw.

Greetings,
10mm or bust    Great name.  It is always good to hear from other 10mm lovers.  Like yourself, I believe a 10mm should be loaded like
a 10mm was designed to be.  My Witness would throw brass into the next county.  replaced the recoil spring with a 22lb and problem
solved.  The Glock 40 is a smooth shooting pistol.
The Dan Wesson CBOB 10mm is also a great shooter.  That Bobtail is so comfortable especially with full power loads.  You might even
think about getting a carbine, the 10mm really shines with slow powder and long barrels.  They make an AR style lower that uses
Glock mags.  the 10mm requires no hold-over @ 200yds.

Greetings. and welcome to the wonderful world of the 10mm.  Was it difficult to purchase and own a pistol in Germany?  The Glock 40 is a great gun, I have one myself. Reloading is the way to go for the 10mm.  I prefer a heavy bullet moving as fast as it can.  Blue Dot gives me accurate high velocity rounds in the 10mm.

If you ever get the chance try a carbine in 10mm, flat shooter, no hold over @200yds.
