Not very close to Clark county, I'm in Dupage county, 40 miles west of Chicago. Unfortunately not a lot of farms for me to do much shooting, I'm stuck with indoor ranges for now but we are looking to move soon.

I was in Kendall county, till the factory jobs being closed and moving to Mexico because the unions wanted too much made our service organization downsize.

That and their insane gun laws. I have to show a firearms owner ID card just to TOUCH a box of ammo? And at the time they had no concealed carry.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Yah...

But as a consolation prize you be at a Giordano's pizza in 30 minutes.  Not too shabby!

Freetime

Hi everybody,  Freetime here.  My name isn't hard to figure out, I log in when I have free time.  I'm in my late 30's and have been a city police officer for most of my adult life.  I found this sight while trying to google information on the 10mm.  I found it really informative.

I got into the 10mm by way of hunting.  I love hunting, both rifle and archery.   I bow hunt elk and deer.  Rifle hunt bear and antelope.  Full disclosure, I haven't gotten a bear. Anyway, I always carry a handgun.  Sometimes I carry a big Ruger Blackhawk and think if I get the opportunity taking game with a handgun would be cool.  A big revolver does work against an angry bear or hungry cougar, but it's HEAVY.  Then there is the reality that there are weird, creepy, bad guys that are also in those mountains.  I just didn't like the idea of six revolver shots, and mostly no chance of a reload if I needed to defend against people.  So, I fell back to what I have training on and thousands of rounds down range, Glocks.  And my duty caliber Glock is great for people, minimal for cougar, not what I want for bear, and isn't for hunting.  I tried to figure how to solve my problem.  I solved it with a Gen 3 G20c.  It combined all the qualities I wanted in a gun for the outdoors and I have muscle memory and training for using the platform.

Now that I have it, I am really into it, looking reading, etc.  so here I am.

Welcome Freetime.

You have inspired me.  I hope one day to change my username to "independentlyWealthy" followed by "FilthyStinkinRich". :))

Freetime

Haha, first post and I inspire.  I should quit while I am ahead.

Thanks for the welcome

Hi everyone,

My name is Guy, I live in the UK (Scotland) and I am building a 10mm Carbine.

To comply with current UK law the carbine must have a minimum barrel length of 300mm and an overall minimum length of 600mm.

I am using an SMLE action on an aluminium stock with a pistol grip. Imagine a long and slightly futuristic XP100!

I will post pics during the build if anyone is interested.

I will be discussing loads for it too....

Hello All,

The_Shadow pointed me to this site. I'm new to reloading, previously my brother had been doing all the reloading but he passed away about 1.5 years ago. I have all his loading equipment so I thought I would look into starting up. Watched several YouTube videos on the Dillion RL550 and did my first batch of .38 super last weekend.

My main concealed carry gun is a Springfield XD40sc or a Sig P238 .380. Just picked up a Colt Defender a couple of months ago and I'm really liking the .45 so far.

Looks like a lot of info here so I'll be doing a lot of reading in the next few days. Hope to be talking to a few of you.

Welcome to the addiction  :))

Handloading is fun, and your brother started you out with a really nice piece of equipment with the Dillon.

We have a really good forum here. It is friendly and when you goof, people are mostly gentle about it and not "Mall Ninja" on you about it.
It's my DiMMe

Ron, Welcome to the forum glad to have you on board!  While the form is mainly 10mm stuff many of us work with other calibers as well.  If you need any help we will be glad to help whee we can!

Robert was actually fairly new to this site before his passing and was little more active on the Handloads.com forum where we meet in cyber space.  Because the 40S&W was a shortened version of the 10mm he became interested.

Best regards!  :D

That's funny, he didn't have a .40 at first, he loaded the .40 for me. He had just picked up a .40 shortly before he passed.
