Beefy10mm

Hello,

I've been a 10mm owner since 1994, my first was a Delta Elite. I currently have a stainless and a blue Delta Elite, a S&W 1006 and a 610, an EAA Witness, and one of each generation of Glock 20.

Glad you enjoy Glocks too!
Some days it's just good to be lucky; rather than just good looking!

Hi, I'm 338winmag.  I have 3 10mm pistols.  An EAA Hunter, An EAA Match Elite, and a Delta Elite.  The more I shoot them, the more I like them.

The_Shadow

338winmag, welcome to the forum!  Nice trio of 10's but I have a question ??? What will be your next 10mm?  ::)  They are habit forming!  ;D
Best regards and enjoy the forum!  ;)

Hi Folks! I have a NIB Omega 5" early model (ported, dual extractors, non-bridged 2-piece rod - beautiful medium polish bluing!) in "jail". I bought a bunch of ZERO 200gr bullets, brass, and dies. I plan on using it for long-range shooting and Silhouette field pistol competition (I've managed to shoot a 17/40 with a 45acp 1911). I've been shooting hot 45acp out to 400 yards, and bought the Omega to tighten things up a bit. It's clear from examining the Omega that it is a precisely fitted pistol.

I'm anticipating working up loads with Unique and Power Pistol, and would love to hear success stories with those powders loading for the OMEGA. I'm aiming for 1050fps. Any more lobbers in the forum?

Gabbar Singh, Welcome to the forum and congrats with the NIB Omega, they are very nice pistols however the parts to repair them are hard to come by, meaning the recoil rod assembly should it break.  I find Power Pistol on to work well with most bullet weights...I have pushed the Hornady 200XTP with 8.2 grains of PP for 1200+ fps in my testing.

In a pull down of the Buffalo Bore, it was shown to have 10.0 grains behind the 180 grain Sierra JHP @ 1350 fps.

Here are some data points I got from a 10mmTalk member; These are his results and I don't know how the pressure was with his testing.  They would be on the HOT side as shown use at your own risk.  He had upgraded springs sets in each.
Glock 20/6" 200gr. XTP 8.6gr. PP MV:1278fps ES-89fps ME:723ft/lbs.
Kimber 200gr. XTP 8.6gr. PP MV: 1245fps ES-32fps ME:686ft/lbs.

If you are running a 200 FMJ it would be a shorter bullet and have less pressure spike.

Thanks The_Shadow. I was estimating about 7.5gr of PP for the Zero 200 FMJ for ~1050. I know about the recoil rod problem, but I have also heard of people banging away with the old Norma ammo without any complaints from their Omega. I got the Omega for about half of what a Delta Elite with an accurizing job would run me, so I'm willing to take my chances. Once I have the rod in my hands I might be able to figure out some way to make it a little stiffer... That last sentence came out pretty funny.

BWT

BWT here from Texas. Have a Glock Gen4 20, but my first 10mm was a S&W 1086 back in 1991. Wish I still had it. I didn't care for the DAO trigger.

BWT, welcome to the forum!  That 1086 would be a great shooter but they are collectable also... ::)  Good luck with the Gen4 G20.  8)
