I'm David.. 52.  Married since 87 and have two kids.  I've been an avid shooter since I was a squib load.  Started out with  Crosman 760 and by my 14th year I bought my first firearm.. A Marlin Model 60, which is still with me.  :)
I grew up hunting and was blessed to grow up in south La near Lafayette.  Around 15 , I inherited a side by side 20ga from my grandfather.  It was made by Crescent Firearms in New Orleans.  I still have that one as well.
At 18, I bought a Ruger Security Six.  I learned to reload for it on a RCBS single stage.

I was a firefighter from 1980 to 1987 in Lafayette La.  In 1987 I joined the navy and retired as Chief Petty Officer in 2007.  I was an AG.. Or weather forecaster.

Back in 1994 I bought my very first 1911 (1991A1 Colt Commander) and have been a gun nut since then.  I reload on a Dillon 550.

I've also owned an XD45 but sold it to by the Glock 20.   A few months ago I bought a Glock 19 through the Blue Line program- my first 9mm (seems like a little 25acp after shooting 10mm).

I've also owned an old S&W model 65. But didn't shoot it much at all.. Sold it last year.

I'm on my second AR.. A Windham HBR (M4 style).  Absolutely love it.
I had a Colt AR in the mid 90s when I was shooting on a rifle team in the Navy... Sold it to buy a used car when I transfered.  :)

Also own a Taurus 85 (for the Mrs.) And a Mossberg 500 "home defense shotgun".

I'm living in Slidell and work offshore in the oil and gas industry.  I live right down the road from Shadow. :)

Turn ons:  kittens, puppies, and m&m's.
Turn offs:  commies.

Carry on!!

David it was great to have you come by yesterday and share the cartridges for "pull-down" documentations, while we discussed just about everything under the sun.  What can I say there are a lot of Fireman like the 10mm.

Once again thanks for your service and best regards!

I love 10mm newbs. They don't know what they are getting into. I started with one 10mm. Then I got a second. Now I just ordered my third.

10mm's are addictive, and only more quantity starts working! ;)
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Hey David and welcome
My late Father spent a lot of time in your area, working over at the NASA Firing Stands
He got clearance, and showed me around one day, after he retired and came out on the road with me

I too have been shooting from a young age
Dad started me out at three, with his Winchester 70 Target, shooting CBCaps

Anyway....Enjoy your 10s, they are addicting
As of now, I only own three, but if lightning strikes just right, it could soon be more
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

Hello...

I'm Steve from Southwest MO. Just recently obtained my first 10mm.....G20 4G. Have been eyeing this caliber for several years, it seems to be a highly versatile caliber. Between this and the 357sig; I think I have found my two calibers for a semi pistol.   ;)

I'm in the Financial Services arena with a Fortune 100 company.

I have had the opportunity to have a Great-Grandfather, Grandfathers and a Father who brought me up around firearms, from safety to shooting. Now, I am passing it along to my girls and son.

My next leg is to start the reloading process; although, this has been hampered due to a daughter getting married in the very near future.  :o

I located this forum after a couple of references by The Shadow or Taterhead or....well it really doesn't matter, does it?  :P..... in The 10 Ring on GT.

I look forward in using the site as a great resource.

Welcome Red! I've spent some time in your state. At Ft. Leonard Wood in '86. I went back in '94 with the ex-wife and spent a couple weeks at lake of the ozarks visiting in-laws.  :-X

Thanks All!!

MCQUADE....Lake of the Ozarks is a great recreational area, probably better without the Ex!  :D. Although, for my taste, it's very busy in the summertime; I tend to drift towards Tablerock, Bull Shoals, Taneycomo and Beaver Lake. Ft Wood has changed a little since '94; they had the tornado not too long ago and have done quite a bit of building.

There was a little restraunt/bar called The Anchorage. Back 20 years ago I believe the owner was a retired LEO. Had the best ribs I have ever put in my mouth.

Me have no idea or recollection of that place.

When I was up there about 10 years meeting with CID/MPID and the Commanding General; there was some BBQ brought in that was good....but I have no idea where it came from.
