Hi:
I'm CJ and I happened across this site while looking for info on the 10mm Auto.   I'm from Tampa, Florida and currently, I do not have any 10mm type firearms.  However, I am in the process of building one up. I recently purchased a like new Colt Delta Elite Slide.  My plan is to buy a Caspian Arms Recon Race stainless frame and mate the two to become a "Colt-spian" Delta Elite.  I do have new barrel for it from Dan Wesson chambered in 40 S&W but also plan on getting a barrel for 10mm.  Aside from that, I am into anything related to 10mm cartridges, to include the 38 WCF (a.k.a, the 38-40 Winchester), hence my handle, the 40 S&W, 400 Corbon, 10mm auto, of course, and Herters 401 Powermag. In fact, I have about three of these revolvers chambered for this round and I will be getting spare cylinders to have them rechambered for 38-40 and 40 S&W (401 Powermag is a hard round to find). I do have an OM Blackhawk being built up in 38-40 but plan on building it for an additional 40 S&W cylinder.  I am also a fan of the 41 Magnum and have several guns in this caliber, the Dan Wesson 741 being my favorite.  Best regards, CJ, bh38wcf.

Yes, welcome to 10mm-land.  Nice collection of related cartridges.  Never, thank God, thought of building a collection on bullet diameter.  That could get expensive and cramp my safe, severely.  Ever since I obtained a 40S&W built on caspian frames, Kart barrel, etc... and built by Andy Anderson (Bob Marvel associate), I have fallen in love with 40S&W in a 1911 platform.  The recoil is perfectly balanced to allow the power 40S&W has with the recoil that is mild enough for fast followup shots.  Just lovely, in my opinion!  So, I relate to your collection.  I also have a 610 6.5" and a rebuilt Kimber Eclipse in 10mm that lets me know how much power is in this cartridge.  The N frame 610 is a kitten to shoot, it is so heavy.  The Kimber leaves sore spots in 2 places in my hands after a few 100 rounds.

Cheers and look forward to your commentary!

Just wanted to introduce myself before joining in the discussions.  I feel lucky to have found this forum, that other one is pretty slow moving.  I saw a post by The Shadow wherein he mentioned 10mmfirearms.com and here I am.

I retired from Active Duty in the Texas Army National Guard in October of 2000 after 22 plus years and then worked for 10 years in a machine shop running CNC Lathes and mills.  Now I am retired from that too. So for the last couple of years, I've been looking
for a hobby to keep me busy.  Around the first of this year, my interest in firearms was rekindled.  So there it is, found my hobby.

My interest in the 10mm was piqued 20 years ago when I read an article in one of the shooting magazines, probably shooting times.  I want to say the author was Jeff Cooper, but can't remember for sure.  Anyway, he touted the
the "new" 10mm round and the S&W 1006.  I found one at local gun store in 1993 and still have it.  But it pretty much sat idle in the closet for the last 18 years. It probably only had 100 rounds or so through it til this year.  I can finally
afford to shoot it, LOL.  I really enjoy shooting that 1006 now that I have found Underwood ammo.  I have several other pistols and revolvers too, but I'll save that for another forum.

Anyway, looking forward to reading and learning and participating.

Hello Gary, welcome to the forum and thank you for your service!   Jeff's envisioned a cartridge that threw a 0.400" 200 grain bullet at 1100 fps when he was involved in the D&D development of the Bren Ten.  As we know Norma pushed this to 1200 fps and the rest is history and our ballistic magic bullet!  8)

Best regards! :D

Cooper was long a fan of .400 guns.  He was involved in the 40 G&A wildcat in the '70's, a cartridge about which there is little info, and much of it contradictory.  Depending on who you believe this round delivered a 180 grain .401 bullet at either 950 fps on the low side or 1250 fps on the high side.  It was sized to fit in a Browning Hi-Power action, so was more similar to the 40 S&W in length than the 10mm.  If it was really at 1250 fps from a shell that short, pressure must have been high to say the least, which makes me more inclined to buy into the 950 fps reports.

10mm is a great caliber with a rich history in any event!

Hey all, FNG here :)) A little over a year ago I picked up a G20. I instantly fell in love with the 10mm cartridge. Today I added a Smith 1076 to the stable. I saw it in the case at my buddies pawn shop and it was love at first sight. My G20 is my primary woods sidearm, and I have a feeling that the 1076 is going to become a carry piece. Anyways, I'm happy to have found this forum. Here is a pic of my 1076. No point in posting a pic of the Glock. It's black plastic and not as pretty  ;D

optimator, Welcome to the forum!  Congrats with your 10mm guns.  The S&W10xx series are some of the most robust for the cartridge.  Yes you've come to the right place, the wonderful world of 10mm and many of us who share the passion!  8)
Best regards! :D

Geeze, I wish I had a buddy with a pawn shop!
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

MikeS.

Howdy everyone, yes another Mike here and a big fan of the 10. Also another IT guy, I'm a senior IT specialist for the U.S. Treasury.

I bought my 1st one in 1992 or 93, a Colt Double Eagle which I'm still shooting. I also have a MT carbine which is a lot of fun. Also just bought a G20.

I found this site via AR15.com while looking at reloading ideas. I've reloaded about 400 rounds of 10mm 2 years ago but with the new G20 I needed more.

Welcome MikeS

Cool gun, the double eagle.  I see them on gun broker from time to time and wish I had room in the bank account for one.

Mike S, Welcome to the forum!  There are plenty commercial loadings shown in the 10mm Pull-down section.  A study and review you can see what the commercial loaders are stuffing their stuff with.

Just understand that some of those loadings are high impulse and it is best to have good chamber support for best casing longevity!

Thanks for the info. On the G20 I'm using a LWD threaded barrel with my Osprey suppressor part of the time.

Hi All - My name is Mike and I live in Milwaukee WI. I own an global shipping company. I hunt, shoot and load. My buddy introduced me to his G20 a few years back and I wasn't overly fond of the feel. Last year had a guy swap my G22 for for a new Witness,....and it all changed form there. I absolutely love the 10mm cartridge. I've managed to snap up 2000 cases and with the large primer pocket, I've been able to load/reload nonstop....and shoot cheap. Just picked up my new G20 last week,...love it. Going to get a 6.5" barrel to hunt with and eventually a new custom slide,.... ;D. I own a variety of guns,...really love playing with the AR 10/15 platform last few years. Same buddy got me into building them. Actually in the middle fo my first AR10 build right now.

Noticed some Vets on this site, THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SERVICES AND SACRIFICES you performed and made for this country. Just wanted to let you know that while the idiots on Capitol Hill spit on many of you lately,.....I and my family appreciate what you've done and will do if called upon again, more than words can say!!!  Salutes!!
Mike
